摘要: There are a plurality of power saving modes for a device in a wireless network. It is determined that the device is using one of the power saving modes on a peer-specific link, a state is set to indicate that the device is using that specific power saving mode, and a message is transmitted to the peer over the link that includes an indication of the state. There may also be a power management indication that indicates whether a full power state is in use of one of the power saving modes are in use. Exemplary power saving modes are light sleep and deep sleep. A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium are detailed, and exemplary environments may be practices in or by a WLAN mesh point.

摘要: This document discloses a solution for transmitting scanning response messages in an orderly manner in a wireless network. An access node determines a transmission order for a plurality of access nodes responding to a scanning request message provided by a scanning/requesting device. Then, the access node determines its own transmission turn within the transmission order and transmits a scanning response message with reduced channel contention. Another aspect relates to the scanning device arranged to receive the scanning response messages where the scanning device monitors the transmission order of the scanning response messages.

摘要: Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments are disclosed to improve network performance for ad hoc network initiation. Example embodiments include a new operational sequence for wireless devices initiating the use of an ad hoc network. The example embodiments require appropriately enabled wireless devices to only respond to probe request frames from other similarly appropriately enabled wireless devices. In this manner, two devices may avoid the time consuming effort of combining two different ad hoc networks into a single ad hoc network so that the two devices can communicate.

摘要: The present invention provides a new and unique method and apparatus for communicating information between two nodes, points or terminals in a wireless local area network (WLAN), where a variable multicast and/or broadcast listening interval and associated signalling is allowed between the two nodes, points or terminals in the wireless LAN network. The two nodes, points or terminals include an access point (AP) or other suitable network node or terminal and a station (STA) or other suitable network node or terminal in the WLAN. The AP and the STA can indicate its capability to support a flexible multicast and broadcast listening interval by using new fields in Beacon and Probe Response frames and in (Re)Association Request Frames. The multicast and broadcast service is setup by using Multicast and Broadcast Service Setup signalling.

According to an example embodiment, a method includes obtaining, by a first device, a transmission opportunity in a wireless network, transmitting to a second device a first message that includes a non-zero duration field indicating a duration of the transmission opportunity, and receiving a second message from the second device in response to the first message, wherein the second message includes a non-zero duration field identifying a remaining duration of the transmission opportunity. The method also includes transmitting, from the first device, a plurality of group-addressed frames before the duration of the obtained transmission opportunity expires, in response to receiving the second message.

摘要: In one aspect thereof the invention provides a method that includes transmitting from a first (beaconing) mesh point at least one multicast or broadcast frame; and transitioning the first mesh point to a lower power mode of operation state after expiration of a specified post groupcast time from a last multicast or broadcast frame that was transmitted by the beaconing mesh point after expiration of an awake window, or when the awake window expires, whichever occurs later. In another aspect thereof the invention provides a method that includes operating a peer mesh point in an awake state; and maintaining the peer mesh point in the awake state for no more than a specified post groupcast time after a last target beacon transmission time, or a last received beacon frame, or a receipt of multicast or broadcast frame having an indication that another multicast or broadcast frame will be transmitted. A computer-readable medium storing program instructions to implement the methods is also disclosed, as are corresponding apparatus.
