A road map display device including a road map information memory for memorizing road map data on a two-dimensional coordinate and a detection device for detecting a present position and a travel direction of an automotive vehicle, wherein the two-dimensional coordinate of the road map data is read out from the information memory in accordance with the present position and travel direction of the vehicle detected by the detection device and displayed in the form of a plane view on a screen of a display unit. In the road map display device, trapezoid conversion parameters are determined on a basis of a conversion formula for converting the two-dimensional coordinate of the road map to a trapezoid coordinate for display of a perspective view in such a manner that an upper side of a square two-dimensional coordinate is contracted relatively to a lower side of the two-dimensional coordinate, and the road map data included in a reverse trapezoid coordinate defined by a reverse conversion formula of the conversion formula are read out from the road map information memory and introduced into a trapezoid coordinate defined by the trapezoid conversion parameters such that the road map data are displayed in the form of a perspective view on the screen of the display unit.

A navigation system for searching coordinates of a telephone number, displaying a map and setting a point, the navigation system comprising a memory for storing information on a subscriber inclusive of coordinates corresponding to a telephone number and map data, an input device for inputting a telephone number, and a control device for searching a subscriber and coordinates based on the input of the telephone number, setting specific coordinates based on the searched coordinates and displaying a map with the specific coordinates located at the center of the map on a condition that the searched subscriber is a specific classified subscriber, wherein a map with a vague point located at the center of the map is displayed while a private home is not directly displayed thereon when the subscriber is a private subscriber of the input telephone number.
Abstract:
A navigation system for use in a vehicle including a route-calculating section and a route guide control section. The route-calculating section searches for an optimum route according to conditions set for the search. The guide control section provides displays necessary to guide the driver of the vehicle, and guides the driver by speech. This guide control has a landmark name-setting section which sets the names of landmarks according to information about the landmarks, the information retrieved from a guidance information storage section according to information about the present position from a present position-determining section. A display section displays a whole route map indicating the selected route according to instructions from the route guidance control section. At the same time, the names of the landmarks are presented on the display section. When the navigation system guides the driver to a destination via a tollway such as a toll highway, the name of an entry/exit interchange connecting to the highway is displayed. This permits the driver to take a familiar route up to this interchange.
Abstract:
A CPU of a navigation apparatus stores public keys to which priorities are set and which are published by an information distribution center in a public key storage section. The CPU of the navigation apparatus extracts an electronic signature of distribution data which is distributed from the information distribution center and verifies the electronic signature by using only ‘valid’ public keys among the public keys in order of the priorities. The CPU of the navigation apparatus determines that the distribution data is valid information which is distributed from the information distribution center when the electronic signature passes verification.

Abstract:
The invention provides a driver with notice of a certain traffic lane change on a road having many traffic lanes even if passing intersections exists within a predetermined distance before a guide intersection. Specifically, the invention concerns a vehicle navigation system for performing a route search on the basis of the input of a point, such as a destination and further performing route guidance along the searched route, which includes an information memory device for storing traffic lane information at intersections, a display for displaying the traffic lane information and a display controller for displaying traffic lane information at intersections on the display on the basis of the traffic lane data stored on the display. The display controller determines whether a passing intersection exists within a predetermined distance before the guidance intersection and controls so as to display lane information of the passing intersections and guidance intersection when the passing intersections exists.

A map display device for a vehicle navigation system providing route guidance including an information memory device for storing map data relating to route search and route guidance, as well as other guidance data, an input device for inputting instructions and information for route search and route guidances, a display device for displaying a map and other guidance data by switching between a single screen display mode and a two-part split screen display modes, and a display control device for reading guidance data from the information memory device in response to the instructions input to the input device and a control guidance screen displayed on the display device. The map display device displays a frame, to the position corresponding to the detailed map, on the wide area map, regarding the wide area map and its detailed map in the two-part split screen display mode. Therefore, this system can distinctly display the relationship between the detailed map and the wide area map displayed in two-part split screen display mode.
