Abstract: A driver assistance system for an ego vehicle, and a method for a driver assistance system is provided. The system is configured to refine a coarse geolocation method based on the detection of the static features located in the vicinity of the ego vehicle. The system performs at least one measurement of the visual appearance of each of at least one static feature located in the vicinity of the ego vehicle. Using the at least one measurement, a position of the ego vehicle relative to the static feature is calculated. The real world position of the static feature is identified. The position of the ego vehicle relative to the static feature is calculated, which is, in turn, used to calculate a static feature measurement of the vehicle location. The coarse geolocation measurement and the static feature measurement are combined to form a fine geolocation position. By combining the measurements, a more accurate location of the ego vehicle can be determined.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for determining a vehicle pose, predicting a pose (xk, yk, θk) of vehicle on a map based on sensor data acquired by a vehicle localization system, transforming a set of map road references of a segment of a digital map from a global coordinate system to an image-frame coordinate system of a vehicle-mounted camera based on map data and predicted pose of the vehicle. The transformed set of map road references form a set of polylines in image-frame coordinate system. Identifying a set of corresponding image road reference features in an image acquired by vehicle mounted camera, where each identified road references feature defines a set of measurement coordinates (xi, yi) in image-frame. Projecting each of identified set of image road reference features onto formed set of polylines in order to obtain a set of projection points.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a route guidance device comprising: a communication unit for communicating with a cloud server; an interface unit for receiving sensing information obtained by sensing a driving state of a vehicle and an image of a surrounding environment of the vehicle, which includes a road image; an AR module for rendering AR information by using sensing information and POI information received from the cloud server; an MR module for rendering MR information including a virtual object on the basis of sensing information and map information received from the cloud server; and a processor for controlling the interface unit to cause displaying, on the display unit, of an AR view image including AR information or an MR view image including MR information, detecting a view image matching a driving situation of the vehicle on the basis of sensing information in a state where a first view image among the AR view image and the MR view image is displayed, and controlling the display unit of the vehicle to switch the view image to a second view image differing from the first view image if the detected view image is different from the first view image.

Abstract: The technology relates to factors regarding the external environment around a vehicle that are used to trigger enhanced driving directions for use by the driver. The factors can include issues such as adverse weather conditions, low light conditions and temporary obstacles or other obstructions that may prevent or reduce the ability of the driver to see street signs or other landmarks that are part of an initial set of driving directions. Upon determination of one or more relevant factors, the system is able to modify or otherwise enhances directions in real time. This allows the driver to be able to quickly and easily identify other visible landmarks and use such information to navigate to a desired destination. This approach employs one or more on-board cameras configured to detect objects and conditions in the environment adjacent to or otherwise nearby the vehicle, such as within line of sight of the vehicle's front end.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for providing landmark-assisted navigation guidance by selectively utilizing database information includes receiving navigation requests from one or more mobile computing devices, each of the requests being associated with a respective starting point, destination, and travel mode. For each navigation request, a corresponding route to be depicted in a corresponding digital map is determined. For each navigation request associated with a first travel mode, corresponding points of interest (POIs) are determined from among a plurality of POIs stored in a database. The corresponding POIs are determined based at least on whether the corresponding POIs are associated with any landmark category. For each navigation request associated with a second travel mode, corresponding POIs are determined irrespective of whether the corresponding POIs are associated with any landmark categories.

Abstract: Described is a travel-based geo-paired information system. The system includes a server having a memory storing geo-paired information that includes content regarding or related to a point of interest. The system also includes a user computing device coupled to the server. The server may be programmed to receive location information from the user computing device. The server may also be programmed to automatically process the location information and determine whether a location of the user computing device is within a predetermined distance from a point of interest geolocation. Then the server may automatically find and retrieve geo-paired information corresponding to or paired to the point of interest geolocation and automatically deliver to the user computing device, for presenting, the content related to the point of interest corresponding to the location of the user computing device.

Abstract: To provide personalized data for display on a map, a server device obtains location data for a user and identifies locations that are familiar to the user based on the frequency and recency in which the user visits the locations. The server device then provides the familiar locations in search results/suggestions and annotates the familiar locations with a description of a relationship between the familiar location and the user. The server device also includes the familiar locations as landmarks for performing maneuvers in a set of navigation instructions. Furthermore, the server device provides a familiar location as a frame of reference on a map display when a user selects another location nearby the familiar location. Moreover, the server device includes a familiar location as an intermediate destination when the user request navigation directions to a final destination.
