Abstract: A method and an apparatus for communication between user equipment (UEs) is disclosed. The method comprises: receiving a data packet from a first UE, the data packet including data and an IP address of a second UE; obtaining a context record for the second UE, the context record including the IP address of the second UE and an identifier of a second user plane; sending the data packet to the second user plane according to the identifier of the second user plane in order to enable the second user plane to send the data packet to the second UE.

Abstract: This application provides a session handling method, a communications apparatus, and a communications system. The session handling method includes receiving, by an intermediate session management function (SMF), a request message sent by an access and mobility management function (AMF), where the request message includes a session identifier, and the intermediate SMF is an SMF selected by the AMF when user equipment (UE) moves outside of a service area of an anchor SMF. When a session corresponding to the session identifier is a local area data network (LADN) session, rejecting, by the intermediate SMF, the session corresponding to the session identifier. According to the technical solutions provided in this application, the user equipment can no longer access a service of a LADN after moving outside of the service area of the anchor SMF, which avoids a waste of service resources of the LADN.

Abstract: Embodiments of the application disclose a session connection establishment method and a control plane network element, to select a proper user plane network element from a plurality of distributed user plane network elements for a terminal device that requests a service. In one embodiment, the control plane network element may determine a first user plane network element set from a plurality of distributed user plane network elements based on a service, to select, from the first user plane network element set, a first target user plane network element that supports the service, and establish a session connection of a terminal device. According to the embodiment, a proper user plane network element can be selected from a plurality of distributed user plane network elements for a terminal device that requests a service, thereby improving working efficiency when the control plane network element establishes a session connection of the terminal device.

Abstract: A route configuration method includes that after a first terminal moves out of a service scope of a user plane function (UPF) that currently provides a service for the first terminal, a first session management function (SMF) inserts a first intermediate UPF (I-UPF) into a user plane path of the first terminal, and configures, for the first I-UPF, a first routing rule corresponding to a second terminal. The first routing rule is used to send a packet whose destination address information is address information of the second terminal to a second anchor UPF (A-UPF). Therefore, a packet with a destination address information that is the address information of the second terminal can be directly forwarded by the first I-UPF to the first A-UPF, instead of being forwarded by the first I-UPF to the second A-UPF through the first A-UPF.
