Abstract: A wireless communication device includes a processor configured to select an offload processing task for performance by an edge computing device; cause a baseband modem to establish a direct wireless connection between the wireless communication device and the edge computing device; cause the baseband modem to send first data to the edge computing device via the direct wireless connection; and receive second data from the edge computing device, wherein the second data comprise a result of the offload processing task performed on the first data. The edge computing device includes a processor configured to receive, from a user device, offloaded data to be processed according to an offload processing task; execute the offload processing task on the offloaded data; and cause the radio via the interface to wirelessly send a result of the executed offload processing task via a direct wireless connection with the user device.

Abstract: The present application provides an apparatus for a non-AP STA, including: RF interface circuitry; and processor circuitry coupled with the RF interface circuitry and configured to: monitor a trigger frame from an AP or ongoing uplink transmission from one or more non-AP STAs in a BSS associated with the AP and the non-AP STA to detect a location of a resource unit pre-allocated for transmission of urgent data; encode the urgent data for transmission to the AP via the RF interface circuitry on the resource unit, when the non-AP STA needs to transmit the urgent data; and pause the ongoing uplink transmission on the resource unit while continuing transmission of a pilot signal on the resource unit, when the non-AP STA does not need to transmit the urgent data.

Abstract: The application relates to ultra-low latency data transmission in Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). An apparatus used in a non-Access Point Station (non-AP STA), includes processor circuitry configured to cause the non-AP STA to, when there is urgent data that must be transmitted in uplink without waiting for a scheduled slot: generate a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) from the urgent data; and transmit the PDU on a resource unit pre-assigned for urgent transmission, wherein the resource unit is multiplexed for uplink transmission from multiple non-AP STAs.

Abstract: Generally, embodiments to enable, indicate and detect Short Interframe Space (SIFS) of different time durations, a short (or small) SIFS which is shorter in duration than a regular SIFS, are described herein. Embodiments may comprise logic such as hardware and/or code to signal a short SIFS or a regular SIFS by setting or clearing a bit of a management frame transmitted by a station to an access point during the network association process, or by setting or clearing a bit in the SIG field of the preamble of a data unit transmitted by an access point to an associated station. In some embodiments, a third party station is able to receive the data unit sent by the access point, and decode, e.g., the SIG field bit to determine whether the short SIFS duration or regular SIFS duration is defined for the communication between the access point and the station.

Abstract: An approach is provided for defining a 1 MHz preamble of a packet. The approach involves determining a preamble sequence of a packet, the preamble sequence having a determinable length. The approach also involves causing, at least in part, the preamble sequence to be divided into a predetermined number of blocks. The approach further involves causing, at least in part, a mathematical operation and a summation over the predetermined number of blocks and a corresponding number of received blocks. The approach also involves causing, at least in part, the summation to be maximized to determine the preamble sequence corresponds to one of a first bandwidth or a second bandwidth, the second bandwidth being greater than the first bandwidth, to determine a type of the packet.
