Abstract:
A method of controlling a motor-driven washing machine. The method includes increasing a speed of a motor from zero to a first predetermined speed W1. Reducing the motor speed from W1 to a second predetermined speed W2 and measuring the deceleration period. Increasing the motor speed from W2 to a third predetermined speed W3 and braking the motor according to a slow brake logic if a first interruption of the motor is ordered during the step of increasing the motor speed from W2 to W3. Increasing the motor speed from W3 to a fourth predetermined speed W4 and selecting one of plurality of rapid-brake logics on the basis of the measured deceleration period and braking the motor according to the selected rapid-brake logic if a second interruption of the motor is ordered during the step of increasing the motor speed from W3 to W4.
Abstract:
Prosthetic intervertebral discs and methods for using the same are described. The subject prosthetic discs include upper and lower endplates separated by a compressible core member. The prosthetic discs described herein include one-piece, two-piece, three-piece, and four-piece structures. The subject prosthetic discs exhibit stiffness in the vertical direction, torsional stiffness, bending stiffness in the saggital plane, and bending stiffness in the front plane, where the degree of these features can be controlled independently by adjusting the components of the discs. The interface mechanism between the endplates and the core members of several embodiments of the described prosthetic discs enables a very easy surgical operation for implantation.
Abstract:
A washing machine and a method are provided for changing system data which allow a user to identify problems with the product itself, installation, problems due to regional characteristics, changes in use, and the like, and to change system operation data accordingly. A user may change/replace a pre-stored wash program to address specific problems encountered based on user preferences and wash history. An interface section for sending/receiving wash-related data to/from an external device, and a memory for enabling data read/write and for storing data received from the external device are provided to allow for transmission of wash history and receipt and downloading of additional wash programs. Thus convenience, washing performance, and operational efficiency can be maximized, while problem diagnosis and repair performed by the user or service man can be facilitated.

Abstract:
A washing machine is provided that performs washing using a new washing course employed in the latest washing machine without any change in the mechanical components of the washing machine, by providing a means to update operational data related to the operation of the washing machine. The washing machine may include a controller that controls the washing machine using electric signals, and an internal storage device that stores operational data of the controller. An external device that stores upload operational data, which is distinguished from the operational data may be electrically connected to the controller so that a function of the operational data may be replaced with the upload operational data.

Abstract:
Device and method for detecting malfunction of a clutch in a washing machine, the device including a clutch including a coupling for transmission of a power from a motor to a washing shaft or a spinning shaft, a clutch motor (60) for providing a power to the coupling, a switch for controlling the coupling, and a cam (600) fitted to be rotatable with the clutch motor for turning on/off the switch in response to the rotation, a power supplying part for supplying a voltage to the motor and the clutch motor (60), a pulse counting part for counting a number of pulses of a voltage supplied to the clutch motor from the power supplying part, and a microcomputer for repeating a process in which the clutch motor is stopped for a second set time period (S20) and operated again if the switch is not switched for a first set time period from a time the clutch motor is put into operation, and informs to a user that the clutch is in malfunction if the switch is not switched while the process is repeated equal to or more than a set times, thereby determining the clutch of being out of order and informing a result of the determination to a user.
