摘要: A method includes detecting high-voltage faults, such as welded contactors or disconnected components, in a vehicle by measuring the total electrical impedance between positive and negative rails of a high-voltage bus and a ground or chassis, comparing the impedance before and after opening the contactors, and executing a maintenance response. The response includes setting an error code when the open impedance level is less than a threshold multiple of the closed impedance level. A vehicle includes a chassis, energy storage system (ESS), motor/generator, and a high-voltage bus conducting electrical current from the ESS to the motor/generator. Contactors are positioned along each of the rails of the bus, a device for measuring a total electrical impedance level between the chassis and each of the rails, and a controller for determining a welded contactor condition of at least one of the contactors based on the measured total electrical impedance level.

摘要: A connection monitoring system and method for a vehicle high voltage energy storage system is disclosed. The method performs a check, at initial connection of the high voltage energy storage system, to insure that the vehicle high voltage wiring system is fully connected and without short circuits prior to allowing full current to the vehicle and normal vehicle operation. The method switches in a resistor to limit current flow between the high voltage energy storage system and the vehicle high voltage wiring, and measures the voltage and a voltage rise time across the resistor. The voltage and the voltage rise time across the resistor are used to determine if a short circuit is present, and if so the high voltage energy storage system is disconnected to protect the vehicle and its users.

摘要: Methods and system are disclosed for an automatic discharge function for a vehicle having an electric or hybrid electric motor. The methods and system monitor the motor for occurrence of a power shutdown. If the power shutdown occurs, a contactor pair is opened, and immediate discharging of capacitance is initiated in response to opening the contactors pair. Discharging is continued until the capacitance is completely discharged.

摘要: An interlock connection is provided for use in conjunction with a high voltage electrical system. The interlock connection includes a male portion, a resilient member, and a female portion adapted to receive the male portion therein. The female portion includes an access hole through which the resilient member is accessible when the male portion is received in the female portion. The resilient member is coupled to the male portion and configured to engage the female portion to prevent disconnection of the male portion from the female portion until the resilient member is deformed.
