    摘要: Protection systems for electrical systems such as substation power dividers are described. The protection systems may be designed and used to detect and clear faults that may occur within the substation power dividers. For example, a first Rogowski coil may be used to detect current along a primary conductor, and output a corresponding current signal to a multi-function, differential relay having multiple voltage and current inputs. Similarly, additional Rogowski coils may be used at each of a plurality of secondary feeders, where power from the primary feeder may be distributed to the secondary feeders using a connection bus. By comparing the signals from the first Rogowski coil and the additional Rogowski coils, the differential relay may determine whether a fault exists at some point along the conductor(s) and between the first Rogowski coils and the additional Rogowski coils, including whether a fault is associated with the connection bus. Further, the relay may then, in response to the fault, trip a circuit breaker or other network protection device, so that the fault may be corrected.

According to certain embodiments, devices according to the present disclosure may comprise Rogowski coils. Also disclosed are systems and methods for forming a current measuring device using a bobbin that may allow for the use of a continuous length of wire for all windings associated with the current measuring device. Automated manufacturing techniques may be utilized to facilitate the manufacture of devices for measuring electrical current and/or may reduce the cost of such devices. Various embodiments disclosed herein include the use of a bobbin that may be selectively configured between a linear configuration and a closed configuration. One or more current sensors disclosed herein may be utilized in connection with a motor management relay or other type of intelligent electronic device.

    摘要: A generator winding-to-ground fault detection system is disclosed that includes a signal injection source in electrical communication with a winding of an electric power generator via an injection transformer. The winding may be coupled to ground via a winding-to-ground path and the signal generation source may generate an injection signal capable of being injected to the winding using the injection transformer. The disclosed system may further include a protection module in communication with the signal injection source and the electric power generator configured to receive the injection signal and a signal relating to the current through the winding-to-ground path, and to determine the occurrence of a winding-to-ground fault condition based at least in part on the injection signal and the signal relating to the current through the winding-to-ground path.

    摘要: An improved Rogowski coil is formed on a toroidal core made of a thermoplastic or other moldable material, the core having a preferably continuous groove or grooves extending around the core. The grooves correspond in size to magnet wire which registers within the grooves, thus controlling the specific location of the wires. The grooving may be helical. A return loop can be provided for return path cancellation, or a reverse winding can be added in a direction opposite to the direction of advancement of the main coil. In using the return loop, a resistive network can be added to improve the cancellation of the return path due to the effect of geometries. In addition, it can compensate for thermal and other variations.
