Abstract: A thermostat includes a housing, a touch-sensitive display configured to display visual media and receive user inputs, and processing electronics configured to operate the touch-sensitive display. The housing includes a base and a display mount. The base includes a top wall, a bottom wall, a front wall connecting the top wall to the bottom wall, a first side wall connecting the top wall to the bottom wall, and a second side wall connecting the top wall to the bottom wall. The top wall, the bottom wall, the first side wall, and the second side wall define an internal volume. The display mount is cantilevered upward from the top wall and includes a mounting surface perpendicular to the top wall of the base. The housing is not opaque. The display is attached to the mounting surface and is not opaque. The processing electronics are positioned within the interior volume.

Abstract: A multi-function thermostat for a classroom includes one or more occupancy sensors configured to detect an occupancy of the classroom and a processing circuit communicably coupled to the occupancy sensors and a database. The processing circuit is configured to retrieve classroom information for the classroom from the database. The classroom information includes identities of one or more students enrolled in a class. The processing circuit is further configured to receive occupancy data from the one or more occupancy sensors and identify one or more students occupying the classroom based on the occupancy data. Further, the processing circuit is configured to generate a rollcall list including an indication of present students and absent students. The processing circuit is configured to determine the present students and absent students based on the one or more identified students and the identities of the one or more students enrolled in the class.
