摘要: The present invention is directed to systems for occluding an aneurysm having an aneurysmal neck and an aneurysmal inner wall. Generally, a device in accordance with the present invention includes a mesh-like structure that is integrally composed of a shape-memory alloy such as NiTi. The device is deployed within the aneurysm through the aneurysmal neck. The device is configured to be in a deployed state and an undeployed state, and is configured to transition from the undeployed state to the deployed state by exposure to a higher temperature and/or by being unconstrained. The device may function to retain finer vaso-occlusive devices such as vaso-occlusive coils and/or embolic liquids. Furthermore, the device itself may function as a vaso-occlusive device.

摘要: A method and system for positioning a detachment zone and an implant, such as a vaso-occlusive coil or a stent, attached thereto in a body. A catheter is inserted within a vascular cavity in the body. The implant is attached to a distal end of a delivery member using a temporary connection, such as an electrolytic, mechanical, hydraulic, heat-sensitive or Radio Frequency (RF) sensitive connection, with an insulation member between the wire and the implant. The delivery member, temporary connection and implant are advanced through the catheter. An electrical condition, such as current, voltage and impedance, related to the position of the temporary connection in the catheter is monitored with an electrical measurement device or sensor. The electrical condition changes when the temporary connection reaches or exits a predetermined location, for example, the distal end of the catheter and contacts a conductive component of the body, such as blood in an aneurysm.

摘要: This invention is in the general field of surgical instruments. It relates specifically to catheters which may be used in cardiovascular and endovascular procedures to deliver diagnostic, therapeutic, or vaso-occlusive agents to a target site within a human or animal body which is accessible by a system of natural passageways within that body. The catheters are coated in such a way that they are exceptionally slippery and the coating is very durable. The invention also relates to methods of coating the catheters and to methods of applying lubricious coatings by forming a sheet of the coating on the substrate and simultaneously drying and crosslinking through heat and radiation.

摘要: The invention provides a surgical electrocautery method and apparatus that achieves sealing along the entire tissue length, and that also is able to deliver adequate force to produce an effective electrocautery seal. This problem is solved by using an incompressible fluid contained in a sac or sacs positioned to support the one or more electrodes used for electrocauterization. The profile of the electrodes thus conforms to the tissue surface and thickness variations, while exerting an optimized pressure along the entire length of the surface.
