    Abstract: A method for preventive maintenance of an elevator speed sensor system includes at least a first and a second sensor, which are independent of each other. The method includes: determining a reference distance for an elevator car travel between a first door zone and a second door zone, during the elevator car travel, defining continuously a first elevator car speed information from the first sensor and a second elevator car speed information from the second sensor, calculating a cumulative sensor system error by integrating the difference between the first elevator car speed information and the second elevator car speed information, and dividing the cumulative sensor system error with the reference distance to obtain a sensor system performance indicator.

    Abstract: According to an aspect, there is provided a communication system for transmitting safety information in an elevator system. The communication system comprises a first node; and a second node; wherein the first node is configured to receive first safety information from a first safety node via two parallel communication channels, to convert the received first safety information into a serial form for transmission in a first safety message over a single communication channel between the first node and the second node and to transmit the first safety message to the second node over the single communication channel; and the second node is configured to receive the first safety message and to convert the first safety information in the first safety message back into the parallel form for transmission via two parallel communication channels to a second safety node.

    Abstract: An elevator safety system includes an elevator control unit configured to: monitor an elevator shaft, receive a position, a movement direction, and a speed of at least one elevator car arranged into the elevator shaft, and determine dynamically at least one authorized shaft section based on the monitoring, and on the position, the movement direction, and the speed of at least one elevator car, and to provide an authorization to the at least one elevator car to move, such as by a linear motor, in or into the authorized shaft section of the elevator shaft. The elevator safety system further includes at least one elevator car controller configured to: provide the position, the movement direction, and the speed of the at least one elevator car to the elevator control unit, and receive the authorization. The elevator control unit and the elevator car controller are arranged to be in communication with each other.

    Abstract: The arrangement comprises a drive driving an electric motor, a contactor and a control circuit connecting a control coil of the contactor to a power supply. The control circuit comprises a manual control part provided with a manually operated first switch, and an electronical control part provided with an electronically operated second switch and a processor controlling the second switch.     Abstract: A safety arrangement of an elevator and a method for monitoring electrical safety in an elevator system is disclosed. The safety arrangement of an elevator includes a motor drive of the elevator, which motor drive includes a main circuit, an accessible conducting part, which is earthed, an insulator, which is adapted to electrically insulate the aforementioned conducting part from the aforementioned main circuit and also a monitoring circuit, which is configured to determine an earth fault of the aforementioned main circuit occurring via the aforementioned conducting part. The monitoring circuit is configured to form a signal indicating the danger of electric shock in the motor drive of the elevator, if the aforementioned earth fault is diagnosed.
