Abstract: The invention provides a non-invasive skin treatment device (200) for generating a multiphoton ionization process at a target position (110) in skin tissue (102). The skin treatment device (200) comprises a laser source (105) configured and constructed for generating a laser beam (106), an optical system (109, 112) for focusing the laser beam into the target position below a skin surface (103), and a plasma unit (117) configured and constructed for generating a plasma (100) such that, in use, at least a portion of the plasma penetrates the skin tissue for generating at least one free electron at the target position. The skin treatment device further comprises a control unit (123) configured and constructed for controlling the laser source and the plasma unit such that, in use, at least a portion of the light of the laser beam is absorbed by said at least one free electron generated at the target position, thereby generating the multiphoton ionization process. A result of the use of the plasma in generating the multiphoton ionization process is that an overall laser beam intensity, required to generate the multiphoton ionization process, is reduced as compared to skin treatment devices which generate the multiphoton ionization process using a laser beam only.

Abstract: A skin treatment device comprising a light source for providing a light beam for optically treating a skin, a wheel with a wheel surface for reflecting the light beam towards the skin, wherein different angular positions of the wheel correspond to respective different directions of reflection for the light beam, driving means for rotating the wheel for changing the angular position of the wheel, an angular position detector for detecting the angular position of the wheel, a storage means for storing a predefined skin-treatment pattern and a relation between the different angular positions of the wheel and the corresponding respective different directions of reflection for the light beam, and a control circuit coupled to the light source, the angular position detector and the storage means and being operative to control the light source in dependence on the angular position detected by the angular position detector in such a way that, for each revolution of the wheel, the light beam only illuminates the wheel surface at selected angular positions to realize the predefined skin-treatment pattern.

Abstract: A method of treating a skin tissue area (3) having a skin surface (5) is provided. Abstract: A device for radio frequency (RF) skin treatment of skin of a user is provided. The device comprises an active electrode and a return electrode. The device further comprises an RF generator arranged to supply RF energy to the user's skin via the active electrode and the return electrode. The return electrode has a planar skin contact surface extending in a main plane. The active electrode has a skin contact surface with a maximum dimension in a range from 100 μm to 500 μm, and a surface area of the planar skin contact surface of the return electrode is at least 5 times larger than a surface area of the skin contact surface of the active electrode. The skin contact surface of the active electrode is arranged in a position at a distance from the main plane, seen in a direction perpendicular to the main plane. The device may be advantageously used, for example, to control the dimensions and shape of a thermal lesion in the user's skin generated by the RF energy.

Abstract: The invention relates to a skin treatment device (10) for fractional treatment of the skin (100) of a human being. A radiation source (5) emits a multi-mode laser beam (20) with a superposition (23) of mutually different higher-order laser modes. The multi-mode laser beam is configured by said superposition of different laser modes to simultaneously cause a first plurality of high-intensity zones, where the thermal threshold (TC) for collagen denaturation for the treatment zone (50) of the skin is at least reached, and a second plurality of low-intensity zones where the thermal threshold (TF) for fibroblast stimulation for the treatment zone of the skin is at least reached. This is advantageous for obtaining a skin treatment device with a simple and therefore low-cost fractional laser skin treatment system for combined collagen denaturation and fibroblast stimulation. The skin treatment device is based on non-uniform laser radiation in the form of the multi-mode laser beam.

Abstract: A device for skin treatment includes a non-circular symmetrical outer electrode and at least two inner electrodes surrounded by the outer electrode. An RF generator is arranged to supply an RF voltage between the inner electrodes and the outer electrode. If the outer electrode has two or more axes of symmetry, then each of the inner electrodes is at an equal minimum distance from the outer electrode and an equal distance from a common point of intersection of all axes of symmetry and is positioned, with respect to each of the respective axes of symmetry, either on the respective axis of symmetry or at a distance from the respective axis of symmetry and symmetrically relative to one of the other inner electrodes.
