Abstract: A spatial ultrasound modulator includes a signal line, an ultrasonic array, a pixel coder and an ultrasonic driver. The signal line includes a plurality of first conductive lines and a plurality of second conductive lines. The plurality of first conductive lines are arranged to be spaced apart from each other on a substrate. The plurality of second conductive lines are arranged to intersect the first conductive lines above the plurality of first conductive lines and to be spaced apart from each other. The ultrasonic array includes a plurality of ultrasonic generators. Each of the plurality of ultrasonic generators includes at least one capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) device. Each of the plurality of ultrasonic generators is superimposed on one of a plurality of pixels, which are intersection points of the plurality first conductive lines and the plurality of second conductive lines. Each of the plurality of ultrasonic generators generates a unit-ultrasonic wave. The pixel coder may be configured to generate the coding array by coding each of the plurality of pixels of the ultrasonic array so that an operation mode of each of the plurality of pixels may be a contrasting binary operation mode of the ultrasonic generator. The coding array includes active pixels and inactive pixels. The ultrasonic driver drives the coding array to generate amplitude-modulated ultrasonic waves of which a wavefront may be deformed. The amplitude-modulated ultrasonic waves are a synthesized plurality of unit-ultrasonic waves.

Abstract: A device for stationary delivery of focused ultrasound therapy to a body surface treatment area of a patient includes a plurality of ultrasound emitters arranged in a flexible array, each emitter of the plurality of emitters having a polygonic geometry and a plurality of edges. At least one edge of each emitter is adjacent to and forms a narrow gap between the at least one edge and an edge of at least one other emitter of the plurality of emitters. Each emitter has an external face and an opposite internal face. The flexible array provides an area of uniform emitter coverage so that uniform ultrasonic waves are applied to the body surface treatment area of the patient when the device is placed onto, so as to conform to, a curvature of the body surface treatment area, and the external face of each emitter is adjacent to the treatment area.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing focused ultrasound treatment. A patient is screened to determine if focused ultrasound treatment is appropriate for the patient to treat a disorder. The patient is monitored to measure a plurality of wellness-related parameters for the patient and detect or predict an onset of symptoms associated with the disorder from the wellness-related parameters if focused ultrasound treatment has been determined to be appropriate. A personalized location for focused ultrasound treatment is determined for the patient according to at least one of the wellness-related parameters. At least one parameter associated with the focused ultrasound treatment is selected according to at least one of the wellness-related parameters. Focused ultrasound treatment is provided to the patient at the selected location using the selected at least one parameter. The p wellness-related parameters are measured after focused ultrasound treatment is provided to determine an effectiveness of the treatment.

Abstract: Various approaches for microbubble-enhanced ultrasound treatment of target tissue include retrieving a treatment plan stored in memory; causing administration of an exogenous agent in accordance with the treatment plan; causing, in accordance with the treatment plan, an ultrasound transducer to transmit ultrasound waves to the target tissue and generate a focus therein in the presence of administered exogenous agent; receiving, from a monitoring system, a measured parameter value indicating a treatment condition in response to administration of the exogenous agent and transmission of the ultrasound waves during treatment; and adjusting the treatment plan based at least in part on the measured parameter value.
