    摘要: Various embodiments relate to a system and related method for managing a connection of a user device to a communications network. Various embodiments relate to a Policy and Charging Rules Node (PCRN) receiving a user requests through multiple serving gateways. The PCRN may assign one of the serving gateways as a primary serving gateway when the serving gateway sends a Gateway Control Session that binds to an IP-CAN session established in the PCRN. When the PCRN receives a subsequent message from another serving gateway, the PCRN may reassign the new serving gateway as primary when its Gateway Control Session matches. The PCRN may then mark the former serving gateway as pending termination and signal the marked gateway to terminate. After sending rules to serving gateways not pending termination, the PCRN may delete those serving gateways marked for termination.

A Policy and Charging Rules Node (PCRN) may receive a message including a service request and may refer to a subscriber profile to add at least one subscriber identifier (ID) to the message. An Online Charging System (OCS) may thereafter receive a translated message originating from the PCRN and use the at least one subscriber ID included in the translated message to find charging information for the actual subscriber. The OCS may include the charging information in a charged message. A device providing service may then use the charged information to charge the actual subscriber for the requested service.

    摘要: A system for providing resilient multimedia broadcasting services over a VPLS network is described. A network Management System (NMS) calculates disjoint minimum cost trees using the Steiner algorithm executed with extra steps to result in the disjoint trees. Destination PE routers in the VPLS network are connected to the disjoint trees so that they can be serviced by either tree in the case of a fault. Each of the disjoint trees is provisioned with enough bandwidth to carry all of the services provided by the VPLS network. Under normal operation, however, the services are distributed evenly over the trees. In the event of a fault, the services on the faulty tree are switched to the other tree using split horizon bridging. Each Steiner tree can also be realized using poin-to-multipoint LSPs which is fully protected by a precomputed point-to-mulltipoint LSP.

    摘要: An apparatus and methods for real-time policy evaluation in support of network management and service provisioning are presented. The apparatus includes a policy repository, a scheduler, a triggering module, a pre-computation module. A policy equivalency class association is determined for each policy-managed entity, policy, policy-managed information flow of information and/or any part of a communication network. Policy conditions are divided into triggering and passive conditions. The scheduler prioritizes policy evaluation for policies associated with passive conditions for entire policy equivalency classes applicable to large numbers of policy-managed entities. Real-time events and updates are trapped via triggering conditions and related policy evaluation is performed for the entire policy equivalency class, for a large number of policy-managed entities, in real-time. A policy decision distribution mechanism provides policy-managed entities with policy decisions for enforcement. Policy evaluation includes changing the association of a policy-managed device with a group of policy equivalency classes. Advantages are derived from real-time policy evaluation of policies related to entire policy equivalency classes, each policy equivalency class being associated with large numbers of policy-managed entities.
