    摘要: A recordable optical information recording medium having an address t for each sector, comprises: an area A1 starting from an address t1 to which access is made only when a recording apparatus performs recording operation; an area A2 starting from an address t2 to which access is made either when the recording apparatus performs the recording operation or when the recording apparatus performs reproducing operation; and an area A3 starting from an address t3 to which access is made either the recording apparatus or a reproducing apparatus performs recording or when either recording apparatus or the reproducing apparatus performs reproducing. The addresses t are set consecutively with respect to a physical arrangement of the sectors in each of the areas A2 and A3, and the area A1 has at least on inconsecutive part at which the addresses t are not consecutive with respect to the physical arrangement of the sectors.

    摘要: A method of recording and reproducing information in a phase-change optical recording medium by irradiation of an electromagnetic wave for recording, reproducing and/or rewriting information is proposed, wherein when information is recorded in the phase-change optical recording medium by modulating an input signal and conducting pulse width modulation recording, a recording pulse string for recording and rewriting is a continuous electromagnetic wave, and a recording pulse string for recording and rewriting, after the modulation of the input signal, is an electromagnetic wave pulse string having a front-pulse portion fp, a multi-pulse portion mp with a total pulse duration period T and a duty ratio y, and an off-pulse portion op, wherein the duty ratio y is decreased as a recording linear velocity for the phase-change optical recording medium is increased, whereby multi-speed recording or CAV (constant angular velocity) recording is carried out. An information recording and reproducing apparatus, using the above method, is also proposed.

    摘要: An object is to provide an optical recording medium which can obtain a sufficient focusing characteristic even at recording speeds at which a recording linear velocity exceeds 4× speed at the same capacity as a DVD-ROM, and which can suppress in-plane fluctuations of the degree of modulation, and which enables highly reliable recording, and a method of manufacturing the optical recording medium and a recording and reproducing method. To this end, there is provided an optical recording medium having a substrate, and at least a recording layer and a reflective layer on the substrate, wherein the optical recording medium is formed such that the substrate has a set central value of a thickness, and when there is a substrate thickness within a given range from the set central value, an axial direction acceleration of the optical recording medium has a maximum allowable value, and as an amount of deviation from the set central value exceeds the given range, a maximum allowable value of the axial direction acceleration at the optical recording medium becomes smaller.
