    摘要: A sleeve portion is inserted into a hole portion of a base bracket on which an adhesive of heat cure type is applied while a rotor portion and a stator portion are retained by a position determining jig. Then, the sleeve portion is initially affixed to the base bracket by a high frequency induction heating of an induction coil. Then, the initial affixation is cured completely in an oven. Since the adhesive of heat cure type is used, generation of outgass will be minimized and a manufacturing cost of the motor having such components will be reduced.

The adhesive section 52 includes: a first adhering subsection 52a in which an anaerobic adhesive is present and a second adhering subsection 52b in which an externally stimulated curing type adhesive cured by heating or ultraviolet irradiation is present. Inserting the bearing assembly 5 into the hollow cylindrical section 11a produces a temporarily fixed state by the first adhering subsection 52a, thereby enabling the external stimulated curing type adhesive to be stably cured in the temporarily fixed state.

    摘要: A bearing has a thrust plate integrated with its shaft and a bearing member surrounds both. A radial pressure bearing portion and separate thrust portion generate pressure on a lubricating fluid in a gap between the shaft and bearing member. One end of the gap is closed while the other is open and has a capillary seal formed with an angle that is large at a boundary but smaller at increasing distance therefrom. The fluids fills the gap so that gas-fluid interface is where the angle is small and causes the thrust plate to float. A pressure mechanism forces the fluid from the open to the closed end and the quantity of fluid is set to fill the mechanism even if the gas-fluid interface moves.

    摘要: In spindle motors journaled on fluid-dynamic-pressure bearings, especially in such spindle motors employed in recording-disk drives in implementations that subject the drives to vibration and shock, sealing performance of a capillary seal formed between motor rotor-side and stator-side bearing surfaces, cohesiveness of oil-repellant on rotor-side/stator-side dry-area surfaces adjoining the capillary seal section, and motor inter-component adhesive strength are improved. The capillary-seal-constituting rotor-side/stator-side surface(s) are exposed to a plasma or to ultraviolet rays under predetermined conditions to improve the wettability of the surface(s) for the bearing fluid. The dry-area surface(s) are similarly irradiated so as to improve their wettability for the oil-repellant. Adhesively bonded component surfaces are likewise irradiated so as to improve their wettability for the adhesive, enhancing adhesive strength. Exposed surfaces may be constituted of a synthetic resin to enhance their wettability further, or may be made of metal, to yield a cleaning efficacy from the plasma/UV exposure.

The bearing housing is filled with lubricating oil mainly composed of ester. A radial dynamic pressure bearing portion is provided between an outer circumferential surface of the shaft and an inner circumferential surface of the sleeve, the radial dynamic pressure bearing portion having radial dynamic pressure grooves for holding the lubricating oil as working fluid and for inducing a fluid dynamic pressure in the lubricating oil during the relative rotation. At least a surface region of the bearing housing remaining in contact with the lubricating oil is coated with a layer mainly composed of nickel.
