Abstract: A lighting system is described that includes a first lighting device, a second lighting device and a pattern element. The first lighting device includes at least one individual light-emitting element configured to emit light with a first beam profile. The second lighting device includes at least one individual light-emitting element configured to emit light with a second beam profile such that a third beam profile, different from the first beam profile and the second beam profile, is provided as a combination of the first beam profile and the second beam profile. The pattern element is configured to generate a pattern on at least one of the first beam profile and the second beam profile and a pattern on the third beam profile.

Abstract: The invention describes a method (100) for counterfeit detection using a portable device (1) with installed counterfeit detection application, to a data carrier (30) comprising this counterfeit detection application, to the portable device (1) used in this method and to a cover (50) comprising guiding structures to perform this method comprising the steps of taking multiple overlapping pictures (110) from at least a portion of the object (10) with the camera (2) of the portable device (1) positioned in front of the object (10) during relatively moving (RM) the portable device with respect to and (1) along the object (10); combining (120) all taken pictures to a single combined image of at least the portion of the object (10) with increased resolution by the counterfeit detection application (4) executed on the portable device (1); applying image processing (130) to the combined image by the counterfeit detection application (4) providing an improved image with improved properties compared to the combined image to order to visualize or enhance the hidden features of the object (10) comprising an increased contrast in the infrared and/or ultraviolet wavelength range being transmitted by the adapted band pass filter (3); and comparing (140) the improved image with the visualized or enhanced hidden features of the object (10) with a reference image of the object (10) comprising the hidden features by the counterfeit detection application (4) to provide (200) an authentication result for the performed counterfeit detection.

Abstract: A thin plastic light guide is formed to have cavities on one surface and TIR (total internal reflection) structures directly above the cavities. LEDs mounted on a printed circuit board are positioned in the cavities. The cavity walls are shaped to refract the LED light and direct the LED light toward the TIR structures to most efficiently make use of the TIR structures. The TIR structures may have a cusp or cone shape. The top ceiling of the cavities may be shaped to direct light at the TIR structure so as to leak through the TIR structure and blend the light with light leaking through surrounding portions of the light guide. The LEDs may be distributed only near the edges of the light guide or over the entire back surface of the light guide. A diffuser sheet may be laminated over the light guide to further mix the light.

Abstract: Systems, methods and devices are for optical imaging are described. A system includes a light source and a light detection unit. The light source includes a light-emitting device and a first spectral filter opposite the light emitting device. The first spectral filter includes at least one dielectric filter and has a first angular dependence of a transmission passband. The light source further includes at least one reflector adjacent side surfaces of the light emitting device. The light detection unit includes an optical sensor and a second spectral filter opposite the optical sensor. The second spatial filter has a second angular dependence of a transmission passband that is matched to the first angular dependence.

Abstract: Described herein is source sensitive optic that uses reconfigurable chip-on-board (CoB) light emitting diode (LED) arrays as light sources. In an implementation, the reconfigurable CoB LED array includes a predetermined number of LEDs that are configurable for a variety of illumination scenarios. In an implementation, the reconfigurable CoB LED array is multiple CoB LED arrays that are configured for use with the source sensitive optic as described herein. The source sensitive optic includes surface shapes that are responsive to the reconfigurable CoB LED array. The source sensitive optic is configured to provide beam profile and radiation pattern differentiation based on a CoB LED array configuration configured from the reconfigurable CoB LED. Each configurable CoB LED array configuration radiates a different beam pattern via the surface shapes due to proximity and surface shape geometries.

Abstract: A lighting arrangement and a method of coupling light into a light guide are described. A light source is embedded within a light guide. The light guide includes first and second outer surfaces arranged on opposite sides. A forward direction extends from the light source parallel to the first outer surface. A collimator is embedded within the light guide. The collimator comprises a first reflector surface facing towards the second outer surface and a second reflector surface facing towards the first outer surface. The light source is arranged to emit light between the first and second reflector surfaces. The first reflector surface is arranged at least substantially parallel to the forward direction. At least a portion of the second reflector surface is arranged under an angle to the forward direction.
