    Abstract: A method for assembling a vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes providing a mirror mount and a mirror head. The mirror head includes a transparent mirror frame and a mirror reflective element accommodated at the transparent mirror frame. The transparent mirror frame has a patterned front side having a plurality of channels established thereat and a rear side opposite the patterned front side. An illumination source is provided at the mirror head. The patterned front side of the transparent mirror frame is patterned to reflect light emitted by the illumination source, when powered, so that an illumination pattern is visible to a person viewing the rear of the transparent mirror frame. The mirror head is pivotally mounted at the mirror mount.

    Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror system includes a vehicle door having an inner sheet metal portion and an outer sheet metal portion. A base bracket includes (i) a body portion, (ii) a mirror mounting portion that extends from the body portion and (iii) an attaching portion that extends from the body portion. The attaching portion is attached at the inner sheet metal portion of the vehicle door. The body portion of the base bracket is partially disposed at an interior portion of the vehicle door between the inner sheet metal portion and the outer sheet metal portion. The mirror mounting portion extends outboard of the outer sheet metal portion from the body portion. A mirror head is attached at the mirror mounting portion of the base bracket.     Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a powerfold actuator electrically operable to pivot a mirror head relative to a mounting base. The powerfold actuator includes a biasing element disposed between an upper housing and an upper end of a pivot tube and releasably retains the powerfold actuator in at least one detent state. The powerfold actuator includes (i) a lower detent disposed between the base portion and a lower housing, (ii) an output gear disposed between the lower housing and the upper housing and (iii) an upper detent disposed between the lower housing and the upper housing. When the powerfold actuator is in a primary detent state, the lower detent and the output gear are rotationally fixed relative to the pivot tube and the upper detent is axially movable along the pivot tube. When the mirror head is manually moved, a secondary detent state is engaged.

    Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a powerfold actuator electrically operable to pivot a mirror head relative to a mounting base. The actuator includes a biasing element disposed between an upper housing and an upper end of a pivot tube and releasably retains the powerfold actuator in at least one detent state. An upper detent is disposed radially outboard of the pivot tube and radially inboard of an output gear and a lower detent, and the upper detent includes a detent lip that engages an upper detent surface of the lower detent. When the actuator is in a primary detent state, a spring load path of the biasing element is through the output gear and lower detent to the base. When the actuator is in a secondary detent state, the spring load path is through the detent lip of the upper detent and lower detent to the base.

    Abstract: A vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes a mounting base having a socket, and a mirror head attached at and pivotable about the mounting base. The mirror head includes a variable reflectance electro-optic mirror reflective element, and a ball member that forms a pivot joint with the socket. The mirror reflective element is attached at an attachment plate that includes electrically conductive elements that are electrically connected to respective electrically conductive contacts at the rear side of the mirror reflective element via a connector portion of each electrically conductive element engaging and flexing and being biased toward the respective electrically conductive contact. The electrically conductive elements are electrically connected to a connector of the ball member. With the mounting base mounted at the interior portion of the vehicle and the ball member received in the socket of the mounting base, the connector is electrically connected to a vehicle wire harness.

    Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head having a mirror reflective element, a support structure configured for attachment at a side of a vehicle, and an adjustment mechanism operable to move the mirror head relative to the support structure between a retracted position and an extended position. A shutoff module includes a body and a plunger movably disposed at the body. The body is attached at one of the mirror head or the support structure and an outer end of the plunger is attached at the other of the mirror head or the body. As the mirror head moves relative to the support structure, an inner end of the plunger moves relative to and along a circuit element of the body. The adjustment mechanism is deactivated responsive to the inner end of the plunger reaching either end of the circuit element.

    Abstract: A method of assembling a mirror head for a vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly includes providing a mirror casing, a mirror reflective element at the mirror casing, and a toggle mechanism, which includes a body portion and a toggle lever joined to the body portion. A lower pivot mount of the toggle mechanism is inserted into a lower receiving portion of the mirror casing and an upper pivot mount of the toggle mechanism is inserted into an upper receiving portion of the mirror casing. An outer surface of the body portion corresponds with adjacent outer surfaces of the mirror casing, and, when the toggle lever pivots relative to the lower receiving portion of the mirror casing, the mirror casing pivots relative to the body portion to flip the mirror head between a first orientation and a second orientation.

    Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head adjustably mounted at a mounting arm via a link that pivotally attaches at one end to the mirror head and pivotally attaches at another end to the mounting arm. With the mounting arm attached at the side of a vehicle, the mirror head is adjustable relative to the mounting arm between a retracted position and an extended position. An adjustment mechanism is operable to adjust the mirror head relative to the mounting arm and includes an electrically operated motor that operates to pivotally adjust the link, which swings the mirror head along an arcuate path. When the motor is operated to pivotally adjust the link to adjust the mirror head relative to the mounting arm, an angle of the mirror head relative to the side of the vehicle at which the vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly is attached is also adjusted.

    Abstract: An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror reflective element, a mirror support element having at least one attachment surface at which the mirror reflective element is adhesively attached, and a mounting assembly having a mirror mount and a mounting arm that is pivotally attached at the mirror support element. The mirror mount includes a plastic structure with a metallic clip attached thereat. The metallic clip is configured to slide onto a mirror mounting button adhesively attached at a vehicle windshield. The metallic clip includes a stop tab at one end to limit sliding movement of the metallic clip onto the mirror mounting button and anti-backout tabs at another end to limit movement of the metallic clip at the mirror mounting button in the opposite direction, so as to retain the metallic clip and the mirror mount at the mirror mounting button without use of a fastener.

    Abstract: A rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror head pivotally mounted at a mounting base configured for attachment at a side of a vehicle.
