    摘要: Dehydrogenatable hydrocarbons may be subjected to a dehydrogenation reaction in which the hydrocarbons are treated with a dehydrogenation catalyst such as a modified iron compound in the presence of steam in a multi-catalyst bed system. The reaction mixture containing unconverted hydrocarbon, dehydrogenated hydrocarbon, hydrogen and steam is then contacted with a selective oxidation catalyst such as a noble metal of Group VIII of the Periodic Table, a metal of Group IVA of the Periodic Table and, if so desired, a metal of Group IA or IIA of the Periodic Table composited on a highly porous inorganic support. The oxidation catalyst will selectively oxidize the hydrogen to improve the combustion thereof and supply the necessary heat required for a subsequent dehydrogenation treatment.

    摘要: This invention relates to a new catalyst for converting hydrocarbons. The catalyst comprises a platinum group component, a Group IVA component, especially tin, an alkali or alkaline earth component, more than 0.2 weight %, calculated on an elemental basis, of a halogen component and a porous carrier material, wherein the atomic ratio of the alkali or alkaline earth component to the platinum group component is more than 10. The catalyst is particularly useful for dehydrogenating paraffins having from 2 to 5 or more carbon atoms to the corresponding mono-olefins, or for dehydrogenating mono-olefins having from 3 to 5 or more carbon atoms to the corresponding di-olefins.

    摘要: Dehydrogenatable hydrocarbons may be subjected to a dehydrogenation process in which a dehydrogenatable hydrocarbon is contacted with a dehydrogenation catalyst at dehydrogenation conditions in the presence of steam. The resulting mixture of undehydrogenated dehydrogenatable hydrocarbon, dehydrogenated hydrocarbon, hydrogen and steam is contacted with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of an oxidative catalyst comprising a noble metal of Group VIII of the Periodic Table and a metal cation which possesses an ionic radius no less than about 1.35 Angstroms composited on a porous alumina support.

    摘要: The production of alcohols in which an olefinic hydrocarbon is hydrated with a liquid water in the presence of an aqueous sulfur-containing acid catalyst such as sulfuric acid may be improved by effecting the reaction in the presence of a solid, porous carbon support which will act as the co-catalyst or promoter. The hydration reactions which are employed for the process will include a temperature in the range of from about 100.degree. to about 300.degree. C. and a pressure in the range of from about 1 to about 300 atmospheres.

    摘要: Olefinic hydrocarbons may be hydrated to form corresponding alcohols by treating said olefins with water in the presence of an acidic compound which acts as a catalyst, said hydration reaction being effected at a temperature in the range of from about 100.degree. to about 300.degree. C. and a pressure in the range of from about 1 to about 100 atmospheres. In addition, the reaction medium also contains a salt of a metal selected from the group consisting of magnesium, barium, beryllium and radium, said metal salts suppressing the corrosive nature of the acid catalyst and thus permitting the reaction to be effected in normal metal reactors.

    摘要: Catalyst particles which are employed in reactions involving the conversion of organic compounds should possess a desired configuration in order to maintain a desired voidage which will permit passage of the feedstock through the catalyst bed during the conversion reaction. Solid phosphoric acid catalysts which comprise an admixture of an acid of phosphorus and a solid binder such as a siliceous material may be formed into polylobular, tubular, ridged, fluted, or channeled cylindrical particles which will permit a sufficient amount of voidage in the catalyst bed to be maintained even though the catalyst particles will swell during the reaction due to the formation of coke on the surface thereof.

    摘要: Alkyl aromatic compounds may be prepared by reacting an aromatic compound with an alkylating agent such as an olefin in the presence of an alkylation catalyst. The alkylation catalyst of the present invention comprises a composite which has been prepared by coextruding a clay component and at least one multi-valent metal component in which the metal is selected from the group consisting of Groups IIIA, IIIB and IVB of the Periodic Table, followed by drying the resultant extrudate and calcination thereof. By utilizing a catalyst which has been prepared by this method in an alkylation reaction it is possible to obtain an improved alkylate selectivity.

    摘要: Olefinic feedstocks which contain catalyst contaminants or poisons such as sulfur-containing compounds may be oligomerized to a desired oligomer and configuration of the oligomer by utilizing a catalyst which is stable and will not deactivate due to the presence of the aforementioned poisons. The catalyst comprises a porous support which has been impregnated with a catalytically effective amount of an iron group metal compound and a Group IVA metal compound. In addition, the catalyst composite may also contain in combination therewith, a catalytically effective amount of an alkyl aluminum compound and an aluminum alkoxy/aluminum halide compound. The catalyst of this invention is prepared by impregnating a porous support with an aqueous solution containing an iron group metal salt and a Group IVA metal salt, calcining and containing the calcined support with a solution containing an alkyl aluminum compound.
