摘要: Fluid pressure operated disc brakes of a vehicle of the kind having a stationary member adapted to be secured to a non-rotatable part of a wheel assembly, a movable member on the stationary member, fluid pressure operated brake actuator incorporated into the movable member, a brake pad on one side of the friction disc slidably guided by the stationary member and directly responsive to the fluid pressure operated brake actuator, and a second friction pad on the opposite side of the fraction disc. A deformable resilient spacer is interposed between the stationary member and the movable member for resiliently mounting the movable member on the stationary member in restorably and axially shiftable relation to the stationary member due to the deformation of the resilient spacer.

摘要: A disc brake assembly includes a mounting member and two brake pads mounted on the mounting member on opposite sides of a disc to be acted upon the brake pads. The brake pads are mounted on backing plates which have circumferential ends disposed in facing relationship to torsion-resisting surfaces of the mounting member. The torsion-resisting surfaces have circumferentially extending projections which engage the backing plates in a manner resisting radial outward movement of the brake pads in response to frictional braking forces.

摘要: A wear-limit warning device for a vehicle disc brake, warning the vehicle driver that a maximum permissible wear limit is reached on the friction pad or pads. The warning device comprises a projection protruding sideways from the end face of a backing plate of each friction pad, and a warning member made from a spring sheet material. The warning member consists of a mounting leg portion, a contact portion and a spring portion connecting the leg and contact portions. The leg portion having a pair of legs which grip therebetween an end portion of the backing plate and the protruding projection thereby attaching the warning member to the backing plate and preventing the same from being shifted out of position during service. The contact portion extends along the end face of the projection until its end reaches a permissible wear limit level of the friction member of the friction pad, and is pressed against the end face of the projection with a resilient force of the spring portion. When the wear limit is reached, the end of the contact portion comes into contact with the friction surface of the rotating brake disc rotor and the contact portion vibrates with oscillatory movements of the end in abutment on the friction surface due to stick-slip, thereby generating a warning sound.

摘要: A device for warning the allowable wear-limit of a pad assembly in a disc brake. The device comprises (a) a vibration member composed of (i) a fixing portion secured to a lateral end portion of a backing plate of the pad assembly, (ii) a spring portion bent into a curve as an extension from the fixing portion for being located on the rear side of the pad assembly, and (iii) a vibrating portion extended from the spring portion, passing through between the lateral end portion of the backing plate and a torque member movably supporting the same, toward the friction surface of the disc rotor as far as almost reach at a tip thereof a wear limit of the pad assembly, (b) a supporting member supporting the vibrating portion at a root portion thereof against biasing force of the spring portion, and (c) a projection disposed on either the supporting member and the vibration portion for determining contact position therebetween. The vibrating portion produces the alarming sound according to natural frequency thereof which is determined by the length from the projection up to the tip of the vibrating portion.

摘要: An improved disc brake caliper housing structure including a cylinder portion which has a cylinder wall section formed with a cylinder having a cylinder bore, a reaction portion located opposite to the cylinder portion axially of the cylinder, and a bridging portion connecting the cylinder and reaction portions. The bridging portion has a cross section, taken perpendicularly to the axis of the cylinder, which is of substantially circular arc configuration along the periphery of a disc rotor, and the cylinder wall section which has a fan-shaped profile to which the circumferential wall of the cylinder is virtually inscribed, has openings spaced radially of the cylinder. The openings are formed between both ends of the circular arc of the bridging portion, and those two segments of the circumferential wall of an open end portion of the cylinder which are nearest to the both ends of the bridging portion radially of the cylinder. This caliper housing structure provides improvements in reducing the wall thickness of the bridging portion while preventing its cylinder bore from being deformed upon brake application.

In the dust cover of this type disc brake an air introducing hole is formed. On the outside of the dust cover an air collector is disposed for positively collecting and introducing the air flowing in the vicinity of the dust cover. On the inside of the dust cover an air guide is disposed for guiding the air taken through the air introducing hole as far as the entrance of the air passages in the disc rotor.

摘要: A brake booster of the stroke enlarging type wherein a power piston operated by the pressure difference existing on opposite sides thereof is moveable relative to a control piston provided with a control valve for controlling the difference of the pressure, and the power piston and the control piston are engageable to be immovable relative to each other by means of a locking member after the pressure difference has reached a predetermined value. The power piston is so constructed as to be able to advance a larger distance than the control piston, while the pressure difference is small, to move the output member by a larger amount in comparison to a small amount of advancement of the input member of the booster. The locking member is normally retained at the retracted position by means of a spring and is advanced, against the action of the spring, when the pressure difference on opposite sides of the power piston has reached the predetermined value, to engage the power piston with the control piston so they move together and prevent the output member from remaining stationary upon advancement of the input member caused by to a retraction of the power piston relative to the control piston.

摘要: A braking hydraulic pressure control unit for a motor vehicle including a differential-acting piston having a plurality of pressure bearing portions facing an inlet compartment and an outlet compartment communicating with a master cylinder and rear wheel cylinders, respectively, of a vehicle braking system. The differential-acting piston is formed with shoe clearance compensating piston segments operative to reduce an inflow of a braking fluid into a spherical valve chamber at initial stages of brake application whereby unfavorable influences which would otherwise be exerted by the size of shoe clearances on a spherical valve at initial stages of brake application can be prevented.

摘要: A drum brake used in a vehicle generally includes a backing plate secured to a non-rotatable member of a wheel shaft; a pair of brake shoes slidably attached to the backing plate; a wheel cylinder disposed between each end portion of the brake shoes where they are closely positioned to each other; and a substantially U-shaped return spring to be engaged with each web portion of the brake shoes at the extreme ends thereof for biasing both in a mutually approaching direction. The U-shaped return spring in this invention is characteristically provided with, at each end portion thereof, where the same is engaged with each web portion of the shoes, a notch whereinto the web portion is to be fitted for securely positioning the return spring.

摘要: A dual fluid reservoir for a tandem master cylinder includes front and rear fluid chambers communicated to each other and comprises a lateral partition provided within the casing of the reservoir to block free fluid communication between the two chambers after the fluid level within the chambers drops below a lowest level defined by the lateral partition, and an annular partition provided on the lateral partition to form a float chamber therein, the annular partition being higher than the lateral partition in a predetermined length and including a pair of recessed portions corresponding to the lateral partition to permit fluid flow from the two fluid chambers into the float chamber. Thus, a magnetically operable switch device is mounted on the casing between the two chambers to actuate a warning device and a float is disposed within the float chamber for vertical movement and operatively connected to the switch.
