Abstract: Self-mixed interferometer (SMI) devices and techniques are described for measuring depth and/or velocity of objects. The SMI devices and techniques may be used for eye-tracking. A light source of an SMI sensor emits coherent light that is directed to a target location with a scanning module. One or more SMI signals are measured. The one or more SMI signals are generated by the SMI sensor in response to feedback light received from the target location. The feedback light is a portion of the coherent light that illuminated the target location.

Abstract: A lighting assembly may include a light source and a reflective polarizer overlapping the light source. A portion of light that is incident on the reflective polarizer may not pass through the reflective polarizer and may be reflected back to the light source. The light source may include at least one of a light emitting diode (LED), a micro-LED, an organic light emitting diode (OLED), a micro-OLED, a liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS), or an fLCoS light source. The reflective polarizer may include a polymer birefringent multilayer structure of alternating first layers and second layers. The first layers may each include an isotropic polymer thin film the second layers each include an anisotropic polymer thin film. Various other devices, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: A multilayer polymer thin film includes an anti-reflective coating directly overlying a reflective polarizer stack. The reflective polarizer stack includes alternating first and second polymer layers, where the first layers include an isotropic polymer thin film and the second layers include an anisotropic polymer thin film. The anti-reflective coating (ARC) includes alternating third and fourth layers, where the third layers include an isotropic polymer thin film or an anisotropic polymer thin film and the fourth layers include an isotropic polymer thin film. The multilayer polymer thin film may be formed by co-extrusion where the reflective polarizer stack and the anti-reflective coating are formed simultaneously.

Abstract: An eye-tracking device includes an optical device that includes a light source with an optical cavity and a light sensor. The light source is positioned to output coherent light toward an eye of a user and receive at least a portion of the coherent light back from the eye of the user as feedback light. The feedback light enters the optical cavity and causes modulation of an intensity of the coherent light. The light sensor is optically coupled with the light source for detecting the modulated intensity of the coherent light and generating one or more signals based on the detected intensity of the coherent light. The eye-tracking device also includes one or more processors that are coupled to the optical device for determining, from the one or more signals, movement information of the eye. A method of detecting movement of an eye using the eye-tracking device is also disclosed.

Abstract: An example apparatus may include a display and an optical configuration configured to provide an image of the display. The optical configuration may include a lens having a lens surface that supports at least one serpentine electrode. The at least one serpentine electrode may be in electrical communication with an electrical component such as an electrooptical component (e.g., including at least one of a laser, light-emitting diode, photodiode, or image sensor) or an electroactive component that may show one or more dimensional changes under application of an electric field. An example apparatus may also include a controller in electrical communication with the electrical component through the at least one serpentine electrode. In some examples, the serpentine electrode may have an approximately sinusoidal shape. Other devices, methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.
