Abstract: A negative electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, said negative electrode comprising a negative-electrode current collector, and a negative-electrode active material layer provided upon the negative-electrode current collector, wherein the negative-electrode active material layer includes a negative-electrode active material and a styrene-butadiene rubber, and the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the styrene-butadiene rubber in an area that extends 10% in the thickness direction from the surface of the reverse side of the negative-electrode active material layer from the negative-electrode current collector is higher than that of the styrene-butadiene rubber in an area that extends 10% in the thickness direction from the surface of the negative-electrode current collector side of the negative-electrode active material layer.

Abstract: A separator for use in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to the present invention comprises a porous substrate and a filler layer disposed upon the substrate. The filler layer includes phosphate particles and inorganic particles having a higher heat resistance than the phosphate particles. The D10 particle size (D10) of the phosphate particles on a volume basis is 0.02 μm to 0.5 μm, inclusive, and is smaller than the average pore size of the pores in the substrate. The BET specific surface area of the phosphate particles is 5 m2/g to 100 m2/g, inclusive, and is greater than the BET specific surface area of the inorganic particles. The D50 particle size (D50) of the inorganic particles on a volume basis is greater than the D50 particle size (D50) of the phosphate particles on a volume basis.

Abstract: This non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The separator includes: a porous base material; a first filler layer which contains phosphate particles as a primary component and is arranged on one surface of the base material; and a second filler layer which is disposed between the base material and the first filler layer and which contains at least one type of compound selected from the group consisting of an aromatic polyamide, an aromatic polyimide and an aromatic polyiamideimide. The BET specific surface area of the phosphate particles is 5-100 m2/g. The content of the aforementioned compounds in the second filler layer is 15 mass % or greater.

Abstract: The present invention provides a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of suppressing the increase in IV resistance of a battery in a combination of a negative electrode containing a lithium-titanium composite oxide and a carbon material and a positive electrode containing a lithium transition metal oxide. A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to the present invention includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator placed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode contains a lithium transition metal oxide in which Ni accounts for 30 mole percent or more of the total molar amount of metal elements excluding Li and also contains tungsten element. The negative electrode contains a lithium-titanium composite oxide and a carbon material. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains a substance reduced on the negative electrode at a potential of 0.5 V to 1.5 V (vs. Li/Li+).

Abstract: The present invention aims to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which the amount of a gas generated during charge/discharge cycles, during storage, or the like is small although a cellulose-made separator is used. A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is one example of an embodiment includes a positive electrode including a positive electrode collector and a positive electrode mixture layer formed thereon; a negative electrode including a negative electrode collector and a negative electrode mixture layer formed thereon; a separator formed from a cellulose as a primary component; and a fluorine-containing non-aqueous electrolyte. In the positive electrode mixture layer, a lithium transition metal oxide and a phosphoric acid compound are contained.
