Abstract:
Child caretaking structures having adjustable canopies and/or headrests are described. An example child caretaking structure includes a frame having a track with a plurality of indentations and a canopy. The example canopy includes a canopy stay connector coupled to a canopy clip, wherein the canopy clip is slidably coupled to the frame. The example canopy clip includes a first end, a second end and at least one protrusion between the first end and the second end dimensioned to selectively engage a first of the indentations of the track to fix the canopy at a first height.
Abstract:
Lifting “ferries” having rotatable wings with propeller engines can lift airplanes vertically, during takeoffs, in a quieter and safer manner with reduced fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Four rotatable wings are used, to provide balanced lifting force, and to prevent downdraft or propwash from blowing directly against the wings of an airplane being lifted. An optional buoyant aircraft such as a zeppelin can also be used to provide lifting force. Such buoyant aircraft should have adjustable internal struts, to convert it into a streamlined shape for moderate-speed flight and descent. Alternately, a zeppelin can be provided directly with four large rotatable propeller engines, to create a single-unit buoyant lifting ferry.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for rapidly cooling small volumes of fluids. The apparatus includes a plurality of cooling elements each including a housing forming a sealable cooling fluid chamber which can house a cooling fluid. At least one spacer is arranged to separate opposed cooling elements and provide a separation distance between the opposed cooling elements. Each of the plurality of cooling elements is arranged to be independently separable to allow ready assembly, disassembly, and cleaning. The plurality of cooling elements can include a stack of disc-shaped cooling elements or concentric cylinders that can be situated in a container and rotated by a motor.
Abstract:
Signal data obtained from a piezoelectric sensor placed on a patient's body is used to detect the presence of a cardiac pulse. The piezoelectric sensor has a transducing element adapted to sense movement due to a cardiac pulse and produce piezoelectric signal data in response thereto. Processing circuitry analyzes the piezoelectric signal data for a feature indicative of a cardiac pulse and determines whether a cardiac pulse is present in the patient based on the feature. In one aspect, the feature may be a temporal feature such as a relative change in energy. In another aspect, the feature may be a spectral feature such as the energy or frequency of a peak in the energy spectrum of the signal. In yet another aspect, the feature may be obtained by comparing the piezoelectric signal data with a previously-identified pattern known to predict the presence of a cardiac pulse. Multiple features may also be obtained from the piezoelectric signal data and classified to determine the presence of a cardiac pulse.
Abstract:
A modulation spectroscopy system (1) has an acousto-optic modulator (5) providing a pump beam onto a sample. The modulator receives a light beam from a source (4) and diffracts it to provide an output which is the first order beam, the zeroth order or undeflected beam being terminated and the 2nd and higher orders being negligible and terminated also. The modulator is driven alternately by two drive frequencies at a modulation or toggle frequency. The first order output is at one angle for a first drive frequency and at another angle for the other drive frequency. The duty cycle of alternating between the different drive frequencies sets the output beam position duty cycle for incidence at two different spots on the sample. Also, either or both beams may be position and/or intensity varied by control of the modulator drive frequencies and their amplitudes.
Abstract:
A method and system is provided wherein a user can access a scheduling service provider to arrange for a MRI-based health care screening appointment without a medical referral. After a user profile is completed and accepted by the scheduling service, an appointment for the MRI-based health care screening appointment, such as a magnetic resonance imaging scan of the user's brain, can be scheduled at participating health care screening facilities in the user's geographical area, the scheduling increasing the percentage utilization of the participating MRI-based health care screening facility and the availability of the health care screening procedure to the general public.
Abstract:
An electrically conductive protective coating or film is provided over the surface of a reflective coating of a solar mirror by flowing or directing a cation containing liquid and an anion containing liquid onto the conductive surface. The cation and the anion containing liquids are spaced from, and preferably out of contact with one another on the surface of the reflective coating as an electric current is moved through the anion containing liquid, the conductive surface between the liquids and the cation containing liquid to coat the conductive surface with the electrically conductive coating.

The disclosure generally relates to knowledge retrieval using a knowledgebase storing general and/or expert knowledge. In particular, the disclosure relates to using complex retrieval techniques to implement an enhanced troubleshooting system that provides relevant information. Aspects of the disclosure retrieve relevant documents to assist in troubleshooting by reasoning with stored representations about the faulty system and its operating environment. After receiving a description of the symptoms and/or other information related to the problem, the system may recommend textual and/or non-textual documents with relevant information for identifying the cause of the problem and restoring operation.
