    Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods for enabling fast recovery by a user equipment (UE) from packet switched (PS) call failure in a fifth generation (5G) non-standalone (NSA) network. Various embodiments for recovering from PS call failure in a 5G NSA network may include determining whether a total number of Evolved Packet System (EPS) bearer deactivation requests received from a base station of a 5G NSA network during a time period exceeds a maximum counter value, and disabling 5G data calls on the UE in response to determining that the total number of EPS bearer deactivation requests received from the base station of the 5G NSA network during the time period exceeds the maximum counter value.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit an encoded transmission via a broadcast to multiple user equipment (UE). Subsequently, the multiple UEs may transmit assistance information to the base station based on attempting to decode the broadcasted encoded transmission. If the decoding is unsuccessful for at least one UE, the base station may then transmit an additional encoded transmission via a unicast or multicast message to the UEs that were unsuccessful. Additionally, the base station may transmit configuration information for the multiple UEs to receive the encoded transmissions and to transmit the assistance information. For example, the configuration information may include portion information for how long the encoded transmission is transmitted via the broadcast, via the unicast, when to transmit the assistance information, etc. In some cases, the configuration information may be based on UE metrics of the multiple UEs.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to retransmission techniques for communication of information (e.g., for wireless communication). In some aspects, if a device's first transmission including punctured encoded data fails, the device's second transmission (e.g., in response to a NAK) may involve transmitting the punctured bits. In some aspects, the coding rate used for encoding the data for the first transmission is selected to meet an error rate (e.g., a block error rate) for the second transmission. The second transmission may also include at least some of the encoded data. In some aspects, the puncturing may be performed according to a puncture pattern that is generated based on bit error probabilities of bit positions for encoded data.

In some systems, a wireless device may In use non-uniformly distributed bits for amplitude mapping and uniformly distributed bits for sign mapping to support probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS) for transmission of a message. To provide a coding gain with one or more retransmissions of the message, the device may configure redundancy versions based on the non-uniform distribution of one or more symbols. In some examples, the device may include the same set of non-uniformly distributed systematic bits or at least a portion of non-uniformly distributed systematic bits in each redundancy version of the message. Additionally or alternatively, the device may use multiple modulation and coding scheme (MCS) values to modulate one or more of the redundancy versions, where a first MCS value is used to modulate non-uniformly distributed symbols and a second MCS value is used to modulate uniformly distributed symbols.
