Abstract: Design of robust radio link monitoring framework for unlicensed spectrum is disclosed. The network may configured two different types of radio link monitoring (RLM) reference signal (RS) resources: default resources, which are transmitted throughout a connection, and additional resources, which may be transmitted only when there has been failure of transmission or reception of the default resources. Various criteria may be used by the network to trigger scheduling transmission of the additional RLM-RS. Moreover, different criteria may prompt a user equipment (UE) to begin monitoring the additional RLM-RS resources, including autonomous and network-initiated criteria.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may obtain a signal received over a wireless channel, the signal configuring one or more random access parameters for the wireless channel. The UE may obtain a downlink control signal over the wireless channel, wherein the downlink control signal comprises an indication of a trigger and a location of one or more random access occasions for the UE. The UE may output, based at least in part on the downlink control signal, a random access signal for transmission on the wireless channel during at least one of the one or more random access occasions and according to the one or more random access parameters and the location. The UE may establish a connection with a base station based at least in part on the random access signal.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to monitoring a paging signal are provided. A wireless communication device may receive a first system information signal from a base station (BS) and may configure a counter with an initial counter value in response to receiving the first system information signal. Additionally, the wireless communication device may receive a second system information signal from the BS and may modify the counter value of the counter in response to receiving the second system information signal. The wireless communication device may monitor for a paging signal from the BS while the counter is outstanding.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for the identification of a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resource. In some aspects, a UE that receives the CSI-RS may determine CSI feedback based at least in part on the CSI-RS after detecting the CSI-RS resource that includes the CSI-RS. Signaling or techniques for when no CSI-RS is detected (such as when the base station fails a channel access operation for all available CSI-RS resources) are also provided. Furthermore, approaches for rate matching for a shared channel around CSI-RS resources or for CSI interference management (CSI-IM) resources are provided, as well as CSI reporting approaches for cases when the UE fails to transmit CSI feedback due to a failed channel access operation, such as a triggered or re-triggered CSI report.

Abstract: Techniques for defining a reference duration and one or more reference transmissions that are utilized for contention window update are provided to address these new features. An apparatus, such as a wireless device, determines a reference duration of a channel occupancy time (COT), the reference duration based at least in part on a subcarrier spacing (SCS) and based on reception of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission. The apparatus updates a contention window (CW) based at least in part on reception of the PDSCH transmission during the reference duration. For example, the apparatus may increase the CW when a negative acknowledgement (NACK) is received for the determined PDSCH in the COT and may assign CW with a predetermined minimum value (CW_min) when a positive acknowledgement (ACK) is received for the determined PDSCH.

The method may include receiving, from a base station over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, a broadcast message including system information, the system information indicating a LBT mode of the base station and a set of random access channel resources associated with a fixed frame period, monitoring a wireless channel of the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band during the fixed frame period for control information from the base station based on the indicated LBT mode, determining, based on the monitoring, that the base station has access to the wireless channel during the fixed frame period, and performing, based on the determining, a random access channel transmission during the fixed frame period using the set of random access channel resources.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a set of one or more uplink grants scheduling at least a first uplink transmission and a second uplink transmission during a channel occupancy time of an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The UE may identify a transmission gap between the first uplink transmission and the second uplink transmission of the plurality of uplink transmissions by the UE during the channel occupancy time, the transmission gap exceeding a threshold time. The UE may determine that the transmission gap corresponds to a lost uplink grant. The UE may modify the first uplink transmission or the second uplink transmission based at least in part on the determination that the transmission gap corresponds to the lost uplink grant.
