    Abstract: A magnetic fiber comprises a core comprising a spinel ferrite of formula Me1-xMxFeyO4, wherein Me is Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, or a combination thereof, x=0 to 0.25, and y=1.5 to 2.5, wherein the core is solid or at least partially hollow; and a shell at least partially surrounding the core, and comprising a Me1-xMxFey alloy, wherein when the core is solid with Me=Ni and x=0 the magnetic fiber has a diameter of greater than 0.3 micrometer. A magneto-dielectric material having a magnetic loss tangent of less than or equal to 0.03 at 1 GHz comprises a polymer matrix; and a plurality of the magnetic fibers.

    Abstract: In an aspect, a ferrite composition comprises a Ru—Co2Z ferrite having the formula: (Ba3-xMx)Co2(M′Ru)yFe24-2y-zO41, wherein M is at least one of Sr, Pb, or Ca; M′ is at least one of Co, Zn, Mg, or Cu; x is 1 to 3; y is greater than 0 to 2; and z is −4 to 4. In another aspect, an article comprises the ferrite composition. In yet another aspect, method of making the ferrite composition comprises mixing ferrite precursor compounds comprising Fe, Ba, Co, and Ru; and sintering the ferrite precursor compounds in an oxygen atmosphere to form the Ru—Co2Z ferrite.

    Abstract: A magneto-dielectric material operable between a minimum frequency and a maximum frequency, having: a plurality of layers that alternate between a dielectric material and a ferromagnetic material, lowermost and uppermost layers of the plurality of layers each being a dielectric material; each layer of the plurality of ferromagnetic material layers having a thickness equal to or greater than 1/15th a skin depth of the respective ferromagnetic material at the maximum frequency, and equal to or less than ⅕th the skin depth of the respective ferromagnetic material at the maximum frequency; each layer of the plurality of dielectric material layers having a thickness and a dielectric constant that provides a dielectric withstand voltage across the respective thickness of equal to or greater than 150 Volts peak and equal to or less than 1,500 Volts peak; and, the plurality of layers having an overall thickness equal to or less than one wavelength of the minimum frequency in the plurality of layers.

    Abstract: In an aspect, an M-type ferrite comprises an element Me comprising at least one of Ba, Sr, or Pb; an element Me′ comprising at least one of Ti, Zr, Ru, or Ir; and an element Me″ comprising at least one of In or Sc. In another aspect, a method of making the M-type ferrite can comprise milling ferrite precursor compounds comprising oxides of at least Co, Fe, Me, M3′, and Me″ to form an oxide mixture; wherein Me comprises at least one of Ba, Sr, or Pb; Me′ is at least one of Ti, Zr, Ru, or Ir; and Me″ is at least one of In or Sc; and calcining the oxide mixture in an oxygen or air atmosphere to form the ferrite.
