Abstract: In an aspect, an M-type ferrite, comprises oxides of Me, Me′, Me″, Co, Ti, and Fe; wherein Me is at least one of Ba, Sr, or Pb; Me′ is at least one of Ti, Zr, Ru, or Ir; and Me″ is at least one of Mg or Ca. In another aspect, a method of making an M-type ferrite comprises milling ferrite precursor compounds comprising oxides of at least Co, Fe, Ti, Me, Me′, and Me″, to form an oxide mixture; wherein Me comprises at least one of Ba, Sr, or Pb; Me′ is at least one of Ti, Zr, Ru, or Ir; and Me″ is at least one of Mg or Ca; and calcining the oxide mixture in an oxygen or air atmosphere to form the M-type ferrite.

Abstract: A magnetic fiber comprises a core comprising a spinel ferrite of formula Me1-xMxFeyO4, wherein Me is Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, or a combination thereof, x=0 to 0.25, and y=1.5 to 2.5, wherein the core is solid or at least partially hollow; and a shell at least partially surrounding the core, and comprising a Me1-xMxFey alloy, wherein when the core is solid with Me=Ni and x=0 the magnetic fiber has a diameter of greater than 0.3 micrometer. A magneto-dielectric material having a magnetic loss tangent of less than or equal to 0.03 at 1 GHz comprises a polymer matrix; and a plurality of the magnetic fibers.

Abstract: A grain-oriented M-type hexagonal ferrite has the formula MeFe12O19, and a dopant effective to provide planar magnetic anisotropy and magnetization in a c-plane, or a cone anisotropy, in the hexagonal crystallographic structure wherein Me is Sr+, Ba2+ or Pb2+, and wherein greater than 30%, preferably greater than 80%, of c-axes of the ferrite grains are aligned perpendicular to the c-plane.

Abstract: Described herein is a nanocrystalline ferrite having the formula Ni1-x-y MyCoxFe2+zO4, wherein M is at least one of Zn, Mg, Cu, or Mn, x is 0.01 to 0.8, y is 0.01 to 0.8, and z is −0.5 to 0.5, and wherein the nanocrystalline ferrite has an average grain size of 5 to 100 nm. A method of forming the nanocrystalline ferrite can comprise high energy ball milling.

In another aspect, an article comprises the ferrite composition. In yet another aspect, method of making the ferrite composition comprises mixing ferrite precursor compounds comprising Fe, Ba, Co, and Ru; and sintering the ferrite precursor compounds in an oxygen atmosphere to form the Ru—Co2Z ferrite.

Abstract: A magneto-dielectric material operable between a minimum frequency and a maximum frequency, having: a plurality of layers that alternate between a dielectric material and a ferromagnetic material, lowermost and uppermost layers of the plurality of layers each being a dielectric material; each layer of the plurality of ferromagnetic material layers having a thickness equal to or greater than 1/15th a skin depth of the respective ferromagnetic material at the maximum frequency, and equal to or less than ⅕th the skin depth of the respective ferromagnetic material at the maximum frequency; each layer of the plurality of dielectric material layers having a thickness and a dielectric constant that provides a dielectric withstand voltage across the respective thickness of equal to or greater than 150 Volts peak and equal to or less than 1,500 Volts peak; and, the plurality of layers having an overall thickness equal to or less than one wavelength of the minimum frequency in the plurality of layers.
