摘要： A system for detecting abnormal operation of at least a portion of a process plant includes a composite model for modeling at least the portion of the process plant. The model may be configurable to include multiple regression models corresponding to multiple different operating regions of the portion of the process plant. A new model may be generated from two or more of the regression models, and the composite model may be revised to replace the two or more regression models with the new model. The system may also include a deviation detector configured to determine if the actual operation of the portion of the process plant deviates significantly from the operation predicted by the composite model. If there is a significant deviation, this may indicate an abnormal operation.

摘要： A clutch reaction plate includes an annular device having a plurality of radially configured, alternating inwardly-oriented splines and keys, the splines and keys configured to meshingly engage a coaxial correspondingly-splined second device inserted therein. Selected ones of the splines include a bi-directional impact absorption device configured to engage selected ones of the splines of the inserted second device when a torque load is applied in one of a first rotational direction and a second, opposing rotational direction. The remaining splines engage the remaining splines of the inserted second device when the applied torque load exceeds a reaction force of the bi-directional impact absorption device.

摘要： The present invention includes apparatus and methods for handling mailpieces. A mailpiece handling device includes a substantially horizontal deck for receiving a mailpiece. The device also includes a substantially vertical registration wall that extends upwardly from an edge of the deck. The device further includes a disk mounted for rotation in a circular opening in the deck adjacent the registration wall. The disk has a substantially horizontal surface. In addition, the device includes an arm mounted above the disk so as to be pivotable in a horizontal direction. Also, the device includes a steering member mounted at a free end of the arm. The steering member is for applying downward pressure to a mailpiece that is in contact with the disk.

摘要： A weight estimating system for estimating the weight of a mailpiece and a postage metering system including such a weight estimating system. The weight estimating system includes a measuring system, a diverter mechanism and a microprocessor system. The measuring system includes a transport, a first plurality of detectors for measuring the dimensions of the mailpiece and a second plurality of detectors for measuring values of other characteristics of the mailpiece which are indicative of the presence of non-paper materials in the mailpiece as the mailpiece is transported. The microprocessor is responsive to the second detectors to determine if non-paper materials are included in the mailpiece and, if not, determines the volume from the dimensional measurements and estimates the weight as the product of the volume and a density for paper output an appropriate postage amount to the meter and the mailpiece to the printer. The postage metering system prints the mailpiece with a postal indicium and accounts for the postage amount expended. Otherwise the microprocessor controls the diverter mechanism to reject the mailpiece for separate processing.

摘要： A system and method for weighing of items such as mailpieces in the presence of external vibration such as ground noise. The system includes a scale system having a platform connected to a load cell, which provides an output signal to an analog-to-digital converter. The resulting digital output signal is processed by a low pass filter and analyzed by a microprocessor to determine weights of items on the platform. The microprocessor also determines postage amounts as functions of the weights and outputs these postage amounts to a postage meter. The system also includes an accelerometer and a limit detector for generating a no go signal if external vibrations exceed a predetermined limit. The microprocessor accepts a weight as valid if the external vibrations do not exceed the limit at any time while the weight is being determined and otherwise initiates an alternative weight determining method.

摘要： Apparatus selects a state machine bit group from a plurality of state machine bit groups of a digital system for debugging the state machine connected to the selected bit group. The apparatus is adapted to output the bits of the selected bit group using existing output pins of the digital system, and includes a first multiplexer which is adapted to be connected to the plurality of state machine bit groups for outputting the selected state machine bit group. A second multiplexer is adapted to be connected to system signals and the selected state machine bit group from the first multiplexer, and outputs one of the system signals and the selected state machine bit group via the output pins of the system. A control circuit supplies a first select signal to the first multiplexer for selecting the selected state machine bit group output by the first multiplexer, and supplies a second select signal to the second multiplexer for selecting one of the selected bit group and the system signals.
