Abstract: A system and method for indicating the drive state of an autonomous vehicle. The system includes a human machine interface and an electronic controller electrically coupled to the human machine interface and which is configured to display a drive state indicator. The drive state indicator includes a mode indicator based on a current operating mode for the autonomous vehicle, a duration indicator based on a duration for the current operating mode and a descriptor based on the duration. The electronic controller is further configured to update the duration indicator and the descriptor based on a remainder of the duration. In an alternative embodiment, the electronic controller is further configured to determine whether a second operating mode is available and display a second mode indicator based on the second operating mode when a second operating mode is available.

Abstract: A navigation system is described for a vehicle equipped with an autonomous driving system. The navigation system includes a human-machine interface with a display and a user control, and an electronic controller. The controller is configured to calculate a plurality of travel routes from a determined starting point to a defined destination point. The controller determines which portions of each travel route will utilized automated driving operation and which portions will utilized manual driving operation. Based on an input received from the user control, the controller defines an automatic-manual driving preference ratio indicating a driver preference for an amount of manual driving operation relative to an amount of automatic driving operation. The controller automatically selects a route from the plurality of travel routes that most closely matches the defined automatic-manual driving preference ratio and outputs the selected route on the display.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an autonomous vehicle. One method includes receiving, with an electronic processor of the autonomous vehicle, a profile selection. The method further includes receiving, with the electronic processor, a driver profile including a plurality of settings based on the profile selection. The method further includes, when the autonomous vehicle is operating in an autonomous driving mode, controlling, with the electronic processor, at least one vehicle control system of the autonomous vehicle based on at least one of the plurality of settings. The method further includes operating, with the electronic processor, the autonomous vehicle in a manual driving mode. The method further includes receiving, with the electronic processor, data from at least one sensor while the autonomous vehicle operates in the manual driving mode. The method further includes determining, with the electronic processor, a driving style based on the data and adjusting at least one of the plurality of settings based on the driving style.

Abstract: Systems and methods of operating an autonomous vehicle to perform an autonomous maneuver. One system includes a human machine interface and an electronic controller electrically coupled to the human machine interface. The electronic controller includes an electronic processor configured to detect at least one driving condition and determine the autonomous maneuver based on the at least one driving condition. The electronic processor is also configured to display, via the human machine interface, a maneuver notification before performing the autonomous maneuver. The electronic processor is further configured to control the autonomous vehicle to perform the autonomous maneuver.
