Abstract:
Clearcoat coating composition for automotive exterior coatings with improved intercoat adhesion to a subsequently applied coating layer and improved flexibility contains (a) a first vinyl copolymer prepared from a monomer mixture including no more than about 35% by weight of nonfunctional monomers that has carbamate functionality and hydroxyl functionality, at least part of the hydroxyl functionality being on monomer units including an optionally branched alkyl group having at least about six carbon atoms; (b) a second vinyl copolymer having hydroxyl functionality, preferably primary hydroxyl functionality; and (c) a curing agent component that includes at least an aminoplast curing agent and optionally a polyisocyanate curing agent. The polyisocyanate curing agent is preferably blocked with a blocking agent that volatilizes during the cure reaction, regenerating a reactive isocyanate group.
Abstract:
A chisel includes a blade and a first handle and second handle that are each rotatably coupled to the blade. The first handle forms a first channel adapted to receive a first side of the blade and the second handle forms a second channel adapted to receive a second side of the blade opposite the first side. The two handles are rotatable between an open and a closed position. In some cases, the two handles comprise a rotatable coupling such that the first handle and the second handle rotate with one another in opposite directions between the closed and open positions. The chisel further can have an over-center structure configured to impede rotation of the two handles from the closed toward the open position. In some cases, the two handles each form an interlocking component adapted to releasably couple the two handles when they are rotated to the open position.
Abstract:
A rule assembly includes a housing, a reel rotatably mounted in the housing, and an elongated blade having an end hook member on a free end thereof. The end hook member includes a mounting portion having a length dimension and a top surface area and a hook portion having a width dimension and a front surface area, where a ratio of the width dimension of the hook portion to the length dimension of the mounting portion is greater than or equal to 1, a ratio of the front surface area of the hook portion to the top surface area of the mounting portion is greater than or equal to 1.1, and at least two-thirds of the mass of the hook portion lies outside a center section that includes one third of the hook portion's width.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to multicoat paint systems comprising basecoats and clearcoats with high solids fractions that each comprise at least one sulfonic acid compound of formula (I) or formula (II). The invention further relates to a method of producing these multicoat paint systems and to their use, and also to substrates coated with the multicoat paint system. The invention relates, furthermore, to the use of the sulfonic acid compounds of formula (I) and formula (II) in basecoats and clearcoats with high solids fractions.
Abstract:
A mass flowmeter employing the Coriolis principle incorporates in at least one section two measuring tubes that extend along a common plane, as well as a connecting device that connects the two measuring tubes in the section in which they extend along the common plane. The connecting device is designed and positioned in a manner whereby its flexural strength for flections in the common plane of the measuring tubes is greater than its torsional rigidity for torsional oscillations around the connecting line between the two measuring tubes. This achieves good frequency separation between the excitation oscillations generated in the common plane of the measuring tubes and the oscillations of the measuring tubes perpendicular to the former.
Abstract:
A handheld flashlight includes a head that pivots relative to a body. Three legs pivotally connect to the body and open into a tripod to support the head in an elevated position. The legs are spring-biased toward the open tripod position and are selectively held closed by a detent mechanism. In the closed position, the legs form a flashlight handle that is aligned with an illumination direction of the head and is shaped and sized to be held in the hand of an operator. Each of the three legs contain battery source holders for battery sources that connect to each other in parallel. Diodes are disposed in series with each battery source to prevent the parallel battery sources from discharging each other.
Abstract:
Coating materials, processes for preparing them, and their use. The coating materials include hydroxyl-containing (meth)acrylate (co)polymer, carbamate and hydroxyl-functional compound, an amino resin, and a triazine compound. At least 10 equivalent % of the hydroxyl groups present in (A) and/or (B) are primary hydroxyl groups. The coating materials after curing have a storage modulus E′ in the rubber-elastic range of at least 1.5*107 Pa, the storage modulus E′ having been measured by dynamic mechanical thermoanalysis (DMTA) on homogeneous free films with a thickness of 40±10 μm.
Abstract:
