    Abstract: A display device includes a display panel that includes a pixel, a variable light transmission layer disposed on the display panel and that includes liquid crystal molecules, and a lens layer disposed on the variable light transmission layer and that includes lenses and a polarization pattern. The polarization pattern overlaps a boundary area between adjacent lenses. The display device operates in a 2D image mode that provides a 2D image or a 3D image mode that provides a 3D image, and the polarization pattern transmits light when the display device operates in 2D image mode, and blocks light when the display device operates in 3D image mode.

    Abstract: A light field display device includes: a display module; an optical coupler emitting a third image obtained by combining a first image and a second image, and including a first surface, a second surface and an emission surface emitting the third image, wherein the first image is emitted from the display module and is incident on the first surface, wherein the second image is incident on the second surface; and a controller configured to generate image data based on 3D modeling data and provide the image data to the display module. The optical coupler includes: an optical waveguide including the first, second and emission surfaces, and a third surface; a beam splitter in the optical waveguide; and a concave mirror adjacent to the third surface of the optical waveguide, and wherein the controller moves the concave mirror in correspondence with depth information included in the 3D modeling data.

    Abstract: Provided is a liquid crystal display including: a lower display panel including a lower insulating substrate and a lower reflective layer; an upper display panel including an upper insulating substrate and an upper reflective layer; a liquid crystal layer positioned between the lower reflective layer of the lower display panel and the upper reflective layer of the upper display panel; and a backlight unit positioned on a lower portion of the lower display panel and including a light source, wherein a pair of field generating electrodes are formed in at least one display panel of the lower display panel and the upper display panel, wherein microcavities are formed in the lower reflective layer, the upper reflective layer, and the liquid crystal layer, and wherein a wavelength and luminance of light resonated and emitted in the microcavities are changed by an electric field generated by the field generating electrodes.
