摘要: A two-dimensional crystalline film of ferritin 4 holding iron-oxide cores 1 is formed on a silicon substrate 6. The silicon substrate 6 is then etched by using at least the cores 1 as an etching mask. Since the cores 1 have a small diameter of 6 nm, a fine structure can be formed on the substrate, enabling manufacturing of a semiconductor light-emitting element and various semiconductor devices using a quantum effect.

摘要: An apparatus and method for creating a drawing program used by a printer to print a document calculates the load on the printer for printing portions of the document, and embeds the calculated loads in the drawing program. Document data is converted into page description language commands that are used by a printer to print the document. Load parameters indicating the time and/or the memory capacity required by the printer to process each command of the page description language are stored in a memory unit. The load of the printer for each of the converted commands is calculated for each process unit of the document, which corresponds to a command string, based on the load parameters. A drawing program to be processed by the printer is then created from commands and the calculated loads.

摘要: In a name service apparatus, a virtual resource management table has three sorts of fields, name, position and procedure. For a virtual resource, its name, position of an actual resource and name of procedure to handle the actual resource are held in correspondence to each other. On receiving inquiry request for name, a communication section requests a retrieval section of a name resolution section to carry out name resolution. The retrieval section retrieves the virtual image management table using the received name as a key. If the received name is a virtual resource, the position of the actual resource and the procedure name are obtained from the table and access to the virtual resource becomes possible.

摘要: When the name of a resource is inputted to a given context holder, a name analysis unit analyzes the name and a name translation unit converts it into first or second resource implementation representations. A name resolution unit receives the first or second resource implementation representations from each context holder. When the result of conversion is of the second resource implementation representations, the name resolution unit outputs a resource name of a second series or string of resource elements included in the second resource implementation representations to its corresponding context holder. This operation is executed on a chain basis to solve the name. A resource implementation unit outputs a handle for the resource corresponding to the result of name resolution therefrom. A user can obtain access to a virtual resource corresponding to the input name by using the handle. Owing to the above construction, an apparatus for and a method of managing resources can be provided which is capable of embodying a high-flexible distributed system providing name spaces for performing local resource access every users, which reflect preference and intentions for an access method by each individual user.

摘要: A deflection magnetic system and method are provided to deflect an electron beam through a predetermined angle while maintaining a circular cross-section for the electron beam. A plurality of spaced magnetic fields are provided to deflect the electron beam through angles less than the total predetermined angle, but the total angle is achieved when the beam passes through the last magnetic field. Magnetic shields are provided between the spaced magnetic fields to absorb any undesired leakage magnetic flux.

摘要: A plurality of ON signal voltages are applied to a thin film transistor (TFT) within one field period, thereby transmitting an image signal voltage to a pixel electrode, two types of modulation signals are alternately supplied to a first wiring (17) at every field during an OFF period of the thin film transistor so that the potential of the pixel electrode is changed, and the change of the potential is superimposed on and/or offset by an image signal voltage so as to apply a resultant voltage to a display material to be driven. Before the termination of a first ON period of the plurality of ON signal voltages applied to the thin film transistor, a part of the potential of the modulation signal is varied.

摘要: A stress-sensitive sensor comprising a means for generating magnetic flux, a thin sheet of an amorphous magnetic alloy which is located in the magnetic flux and which is physically deformed in response to an external force to be measured, and a means for detecting the physical deformation as a variation of the magnetic flux which depends on the external force. The amorphous magnetic alloy consists essentially of Fe.sub.a Cr.sub.b Si.sub.c B.sub.d, in which a is a value of from 69 to 81.5 atomic percent, b is a value of from 2.5 to 6 atomic percent, c is a value of from 10 to 15 atomic percent, and d is a value from 6 to 10 atomic percent provided that a+b+c+d=100.
