Abstract:
An image printing apparatus and its control method for printing an image based on image data from an image data source. In a case where a correction condition is set for the image data, if the image data is a new format file image data including predetermined information, correction processing is performed in accordance with the set correction condition. If the image data is not a new format file image data, the correction processing in accordance with the correction condition is not performed.
Abstract:
This invention has as its object to receive image data from image sensing apparatuses of various manufacturers and to print a high-quality image by making image data transfer and a printing instruction, which are independent from interfaces. Since an image sensing apparatus such as a digital camera or the like calculates image feature amounts, and transfers the calculation result to a printing apparatus, huge image data need not be transferred from the image sensing apparatus to the printing apparatus again and again, and a high-quality image can be output. Upon printing image data transmitted from a digital camera (DSC) (3012) to a PD printer (1000), after a protocol is established by applications (NCDP) installed in the PD printer and DSC, the PD printer transmits its Capability list to the DSC. The DSC calculates an image feature amount of a selected image to be printed, and transmits the calculation result to the PD printer. Upon reception of this information, the PD printer makes image correction based on that image feature amount, and records (prints) an image.

Abstract:
A printing apparatus can quickly cancel a print job without any influence on the other subsequent print jobs when a print cancel instruction is issued. During printing, if a print cancel instruction is inputted from a printer operation unit, a printer function manager notifies a print command interpreter of the cancellation. The print command interpreter searches data processed at that time in a transmission/reception buffer for an end mark command indicating the end of the cancelled job. Then the print command interpreter deletes the data before the end mark command.
Abstract:
A printer and a digital camera are connected so as to be capable of communicating with each other. The printer transmits information indicative of its capabilities to the digital camera and the digital camera incorporates the transmitted printer capability information in a print settings menu. The capability information has information relating to the printer capabilities and information indicative of a default setting. The capabilities of the printer are incorporated in the print settings menu together with the default setting. A desired printing condition can be set selectively at the digital camera using the print settings menu in which the capability information has been incorporated.
Abstract:
A system for scheduling cleaning of an ink jet print head loaded in an ink jet printer. The system includes receiving real time/date information from an external source, storing the real time/date information in a volatile memory, storing, in a non-volatile memory, a last cleaning time for at least one print head in the ink jet printer, calculating an elapsed time by subtracting the stored real time/date information from the stored last cleaning time, comparing the calculated elapsed time to a predetermined elapsed time, and controlling the at least one print head to perform a cleaning process in the case the calculated elapsed time is greater than the predetermined elapsed time and storing, in the non-volatile memory, a latest last time for cleaning the at least one print head.
Abstract:
There is an output apparatus which prints and outputs onto an ink ribbon in an electronic typewriter or the like. This output apparatus comprises: an output head to output a desired character through an ink ribbon; a cassette in which the ink ribbon is enclosed; a guide device to move the ink ribbon pulled out of the cassette in the direction having an angle of inclination with respect to the vertical direction; and a control unit to control the ink ribbon feed mechanism so as to stop the advance of the ink ribbon such that the length of ink ribbon pulled out of the cassette is made almost constant before and after the movement of the ink ribbon by the guide device. One motor is commonly used for print paper feed, ribbon feed, and ribbon lift up/down operations. The type wheel having a plurality of type elements is bilaterally rotated and its rotation amount is properly controlled to detect the home position of the wheel. The ribbon feed mechanism is controlled by the heteromorphic or noncircular rotary cam having grooves of different kinds of radii. The ink ribbon feed operation and the correction ribbon feed and lift up/down operations are also performed by the rotary cam. With this apparatus, the ink and correction ribbons can be efficiently used and the operation timing of the carriage can be accurately controlled.

Abstract:
According to this invention, the date range can be intuitively designated by designating up, down, left, and right directions, and images stored in a storage medium can be easily restricted to images which may be subjected to printing. In order to restrict images stored in a memory card on the basis of the date, a region for inputting the start date of the date range is displayed at the upper portion of a display window on a display device, and a region for inputting the end date is displayed at the lower portion. One of the regions is designated and selected with up and down direction keys. A date in the selected region is changed with left and right direction keys. Images having storage dates between the start date and the end date are decided as printing target candidates.
