摘要： A method and apparatus for initializing multiple security modules are provided. The method may comprise the acts of determining if the security module is a controlling security module or a subordinate security module, generating at least one key if the security module is the controlling security module, and receiving at least one key from another security module if the security module is the subordinate security module. The apparatus may comprise a detector that is adapted to determine if the security module is a controlling security module or a subordinate security module, a key generator that generates a key for the security module if the security module is the controlling security module, and a key receiver that receives a key from another security module if the security module is the subordinate security module.

摘要： One embodiment of the writing instrument described herein comprises a pen-like device containing three accelerometers and three gyroscopes. Data from these sensors are processed via an Euler transform. Prior to using the writing instrument, the user holds the writing instrument in multiple predefined positions and sensor readings are taken. The sensor readings are mapped to the corresponding predefined positions. In addition, the sensor readings are compared to expected sensor readings to compensate for environmental variations such as altitude or temperature as well as for the possible tilt of a writing surface. The sensor readings are interpolated to map sensor readings other than those at the predefined positions to other writing instrument positions. When the user writes with the writing instrument, sensor outputs are used to track the writing instrument to define strokes made by the user. The data describing the strokes may be stored or processed to accomplish a variety of tasks including faxing a message, recording information, etc.

摘要： Method and apparatus for effecting operations, such as punching holes in sheets of material at precise locations thereon. Each sheet has a reference marking thereon and is placed on a receiver one by one and is held in fixed position on the receiver. A T.V. camera views each sheet to detect the reference marking thereon and a visual display of the marking is produced on a T.V. monitor. Also produced on the monitor is a cross-hair grating with a coincident shaded box. The cross-hair grating is first aligned with a marking reference on a master sheet to establish a fixed relation between the cross-hair and the marking reference on the master sheet and thereby between the cross-hair and the operating system, for example, the punches for punching holes in the sheets. The master sheet is removed and the sheets to be punched are placed one by one on the receiver which is moved to align the reference marking on each sheet, as viewed on the monitor with the cross-hair grating thereon.
