摘要: A system and method for adaptive remote decision making includes steps of: receiving from an application layer a target range for a level of reporting quality for processed data; setting data collection parameters to meet the target range; collecting the data from a plurality of remote data collecting devices deployed in the distributed computing system, a portion of said data being compromised during the collecting process; processing the collected data to produce the processed data; evaluating the processed data based on observable metrics of current collected data and reported data losses; forecasting an expected reporting quality while continuing to collect the data; comparing the expected reporting quality with the target range; and reporting the processed data when the expected reporting quality falls within the target range for the level of reporting quality.

摘要: Systems and methods provide a selective instrumentation strategy for monitoring the progress of transactions in a distributed computing system. The monitoring of the transactive processing of jobs is considered through a collection of computer operating stages in a distributed system, using limited information. The monitoring is performed by observing log records (or footprints) produced during each stage of processing in the system. The footprints lack unique transaction identifiers resulting in uncertainties in monitoring transaction instances. The processing stages are selective instrumented to reduce monitoring uncertainty under the given constraints such as limited budget for instrumentation cost.

摘要: An electrochemical cell assembly including a plurality of testing cells, a reference cell, and fluid connections between the testing cells and the reference cell. Each of the testing cells includes a working electrode, which is a rotating disk or ring-disk electrode, and a counter electrode. A chemical composition, whose intrinsic kinetic properties under defined mass-transfer are to be investigated, is deposited on the working electrode. The reference cell holds a reference electrode that serves as a common reference electrode for each of the testing cells. The assembly permits simultaneous testing of many chemical compositions under identical environment.

摘要: A computer program product is tangibly embodied on a computer-readable medium and includes executable code that, when executed, is configured to cause a data processing apparatus to display multiple objects in a single pane, where the multiple objects are visual representations of real objects and the multiple objects are dynamically sized and spaced relative to one another to fit all of the objects in the single pane. The computer program product includes executable code that, when executed, causes the data processing apparatus to display a subset of the objects and associated metadata in an examination frame. The examination frame is sized to fit within the single pane, where the subset of the objects displayed within the examination frame are sized larger than the objects outside of the examination frame.

摘要: A mechanism is provided for reassigning virtual machines to resources in a computing environment. Monitoring data is collected about virtual machine request history and resource usage in a form of time series for measured indicators. Forecasted time series are computed for the measured indicators over a time window by utilizing time series forecasting. A new assignment is computed by executing a snapshot based assignment algorithm on the forecasted time series. The new assignment is used for reassignment of virtual machines on the resources in the computing environment.
