There is described a pump assembly which, in a unitary structure, comprises an electric pump drive motor and a two stage pump contained within a common housing. The motor drives the first stage of the pump upstream of the second stage which supplies the fuel, by creating a higher output from the first stage, which supply pressure is produced on the suction side of the second stage to maintain the pressure build-up in the pump. An air discharge is provided ahead of the inlet to the suction side of the second stage to dispell gases created in the fuel by the elevated pump pressures.

The device includes at least one circle segment-like control section in a control bore intersecting the control line, the section pivotable around an axle and opening to a larger or lesser degree the throttle diameter formed by the intersection. The control bore has a circularly arched sealing surface surrounding the throttle diameter extending eccentrically to the axle and with which the control section, also disposed eccentrically to the axle and disposed pivotably, works together in such a way, that the radial distance between the circumference of the control section and the sealing surface is nearly zero when the control section is in a closed position, and increases during a pivotal movement in the direction of opening the throttle diameter. The radii of sealing surface and control section are of the same size and proceed from a circular arc with a radius around the center line of the axle.

An adjusting device is proposed for controlling flowthrough cross sections of a line carrying operating medium in internal combustion engines. The throttle device which varies the flowthrough cross section is disposed, together with the electromechanical actuating member thereof, within a tubular housing and surrounded by an annular chamber. The dispensed operating medium flows from one connecting pipe to the other connecting pipe of the adjusting device through the annular chamber. In this manner, an adjusting device is created which can be built into hose-type lines in a linear fashion; the electromechanical actuating member, for instance an adjusting magnet, is necessarily cooled by the surrounding flow of the operating medium to be dispensed. Furthermore, a body having the form of a helical spring serves as a throttle device of the adjusting device. When it is compressed, this body, together with a flexible element, interrupts the communication between the annular chamber and the adjacent line.

An apparatus is proposed which serves to regulate the idling rpm of an internal combustion engine. The apparatus includes a bypass line bypassing an arbitrarily actuatable throttle valve in the intake tube. An electromagnetically actuatable bypass valve is disposed in the bypass line for the purpose of controlling supplementary air and is triggerable in accordance with operating characteristics of the engine. In addition, a pressure-sensing adjusting element is also provided, which responds to an abrupt reduction in the intake tube pressure downstream of the throttle device. In accordance with the magnitude of the pressure reduction, this pressure-sensing adjusting element effects a time-limited increase in the supplementary air quantity to the intake tube section downstream of the throttle valve. In the event of an abrupt reduction in the intake tube pressure downstream of the throttle valve, caused by the closure of the throttle valve subsequent to a previous, slight increase in pressure on the gas pedal, the apparatus according to the invention prevents the engine from stopping.

An electric motor-driven fluid pump, more particularly a fuel supply pump, simply and cost effectively constructed from only a few individual parts, preferably molded of a synthetic material, and preassembled as structural groups. The preferred embodiment comprises a pump of the lateral channel type having an impeller made integral with the motor armature; a tubular central housing portion which encloses the permanent magnets of the electric motor; and flange-like housing terminals on both sides of the central housing portion. The exteriors of the housing terminals are provided with pressure and suction nozzles and the interiors are provided with the stationary part of the pump and the commutator guides for the collector.
