    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for starting operation of an internal combustion engine, wherein the method comprises the steps of: when the internal combustion engine is not operating, providing pressurized gas in the air intake duct; opening the intake valve in a first cylinder while keeping the exhaust valve of the first cylinder closed so as to allow the pressurized gas to enter the first cylinder, press onto the corresponding piston and thereby move the corresponding piston and rotate the crank shaft; supplying fuel to at least one of the cylinders where the corresponding piston has performed or is performing a compression step so as to ignite the fuel and start operation of the engine.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an internal combustion engine comprising a crankshaft, one or mor cylinders including a cylinder head, a piston, a combustion chamber, one or more intake valves, one or more exhaust valves, an intake system configured for feeding intake air to the engine, an exhaust system configured for conveying exhaust gas away from the engine, a pressure charging system connected to the intake system and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system arranged to feed branched off exhaust gas from the exhaust system to the intake system via an EGR conduit wherein:—the internal combustion engine includes a valve actuation device configured to allow for late or early closing of the intake valves in accordance with late or early Miller-type valve timing, and wherein—the EGR system includes a gas feeding device configured to feed exhaust gas through the EGR conduit in modes of operation wherein the pressure in the intake system exceeds the pressure in the exhaust system. Additionally, a method of improving efficiency of an internal combustion engine is described.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling an internal combustion engine system (2), wherein the internal combustion engine system (2) is provided with an air intake duct (3), an exhaust gas duct (4) and an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system (5), wherein the EGR system (5) comprises an EGR conduit (6) that fluidly connects the exhaust duct (4) and the intake duct (3), and wherein a gas feeding device (7) is arranged in the EGR conduit (6), said gas feeding device (7) being configured to feed exhaust gas from the exhaust duct (4) to the intake duct (3) during operation of the engine system (2). The method is characterized in that it comprises the step of: detecting a risk of freezing of condensed water in the EGR conduit (6), and, in case such a risk is detected and in case the gas feeding device (7) is not in operation, operating the gas feeding device (7). The invention also relates to an internal combustion engine system (2) configured for being operated by such a method and to a vehicle (1) provided with such an engine system (2). The invention further relates to means for controlling the above method.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method of operating a four stroke internal combustion engine system (1), the engine system (1) comprising:—a four stroke internal combustion engine (2) provided with an intake duct (5),—a turbo compressor (6″) arranged to compress intake flow in the intake duct (5), and—a displacement machine (7) provided in the intake duct (5) downstream the turbo compressor (6″), wherein the displacement machine (7) is arranged to displace intake flow from an inlet to an outlet thereof. The method comprises the step of: operating the displacement machine (7) in a first mode where a pressure ratio (PR) given by a pressure at the outlet of the displacement machine (7) divided by a pressure at the inlet of the displacement machine (7) is substantially equal to 1. The invention also relates to a four stroke internal combustion engine system arranged to be operated by the above method.
