Abstract:
An insulating corner wall form comprises inner and outer foam panels arranged to provide a fixed space therebetween for receiving the poured concrete, the fixed space comprising a corner of about 90 degrees; a plurality of ties connecting the inner and outer panels. The ties comprise first and second corner ties, each extending from a respective first location at the inner panel to a respective second location at the outer panel. Each second location is a distance from a panel corner of the outer panel of from about 20% to about 80% of the thickness of the fixed space between opposite parallel portions of the inner and outer panels.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing frame-type composite panels to a desired length comprises forming an elongate core-frame composite in which frame members have been received in slots on a slab of core material. The composite is cut to the desired length and the frame is finished by application of end members. The method described herein allows composite frame panels to be formed without restriction on the length typically due to the length of the mold in which the core is formed. A drum for use in a system for creating composite panels is disclosed having protruding rings concentric to the drum. A slab of core material is passed between two such drums which form slots in the slab for receiving frame members when they contact the slabs.
Abstract:
A tie for a concrete formwork comprises: a tie anchor configured to be embedded in a block of insulating material, the tie anchor having a first connecting feature accessible from a concrete-facing surface of the block; and a tie member having a second connecting feature configured to connect to the first connecting feature of the tie anchor. The tie member has at least one connector for connecting to an abutting tie member.
Abstract:
A subfloor component comprises an insulating foam panel having first and second opposing faces and a plurality of intersecting grooves in the first face to define, in cross-section, a plurality of pedestals having at least one wall extending toward the second face, a moisture-resistant layer formed on the first face of the panel that conforms to the pedestals, and a hardboard layer on the second face of the panel.
Abstract:
A subfloor component comprises a hardboard panel having first and second opposing faces and a plurality of intersecting grooves to define, in cross-section, a plurality of pedestals having walls that extend into the panel from the first face generally toward the second face. At least one of the pedestals has at least one wall that is undercut. The subfloor component also comprises a film of substantially moisture-impervious material attached to the first face of the panel and that conforms to the tops and walls of the pedestals and to the bottoms of the grooves.
Abstract:
A panel for a building form made of insulating material such as polystyrene is integrated with a reinforcing member for enabling the panel to resist deformation due to forces applied against its concrete-facing surface. Reinforcement of floor/roof panels is beneficial to reduce the amount of, or eliminate the need for, shoring for supporting the weight of wet concrete or workers. The reinforcement resists against deformation due to cracking, splitting etc. Reinforcement is likewise beneficial for wall forms where the weight of concrete asserts significant pressure against the concrete-facing surface of the form, in order to resist deformation of the wall forms under pressure. The reinforcing member may be made of a plastic material such as polypropylene or high-impact polystyrene. Methods of manufacturing reinforced form panels are disclosed.
