Abstract: A system and method for treatment of thread includes a thread printer that applies colored coatings to thread. A camera is positioned to capture images of the treated thread after it passes through an outlet of the thread printer. The system processes the images to determine whether the location of a selected segment of the treated thread corresponds to an expected location. If the actual location of the selected segment corresponds to the expected location, the system will continue instructing the thread printer to selectively apply the colored coatings to the thread according to the pattern. However, if the actual location does not correspond to the expected location, the system will modify the pattern so that thread printer adjusts the size of one or more segment to automatically account for the misalignment.

Abstract: One embodiment provides a chemical reactor, which can comprise a substrate for facilitating chemical reactions occurring at triple-phase boundaries. One possible substrate may further comprise a set of dynamically controllable sites and/or pixels upon which control signals may affect a desired formation of gas bubbles over an active catalytic (or other desired) solid surface in a liquid flow—wherein a chemical reaction in two or more phase boundaries may occur. In yet another embodiment, a control algorithm may send control signals to controllable sites/pixels to maximize the operation of the reactor according to a desired metric (e.g., product formation) that may input a set of sensor data to affect its control.

Abstract: The present teachings include a process, system and article for forming a printed image on a textile. In some embodiments, the process includes coating the textile with a layer of polydiallyldimethyl ammonium chloride cationic polymer and coating the textile with the layer of polydiallyldimethyl ammonium chloride cationic polymer with a layer of poly-4-styrene sulfonate anionic polymer. The process can further include applying an ink composition to the textile having the layer of polydiallyldimethyl ammonium chloride cationic polymer layer and the layer of poly-4-styrene sulfonate anionic polymer, forming an image.

Abstract: A system and method for determining HVAC set points are provided. A present season is determined. An allowable temperature comfort range for each occupant in a room in a space is also determined. For each room, an energy saving set point temperature is calculated for the space based on the allowable temperature comfort range for that room. A set point temperature for the space is determined based on the energy saving set point temperatures for each of the rooms in the space. The set point temperature is provided to a thermostat or HVAC system to regulate temperature in the building.

Abstract: A method is disclosed. For example, the method includes applying a clear coat layer on a substrate, drying the clear coat layer to form random microstructures in the clear coat layer, dispensing a printing fluid to print a graphical pattern on the clear coat layer, and generating a physical unclonable function (PUF) pattern by drying the printing fluid that fills the random microstructures formed in the clear coat layer.

Abstract: A system for treatment of thread includes a weft thread printer having an intake positioned to receive a weft thread from a source, as well as an encoder that is configured to detect a length of the weft thread as the weft thread moves through the weft thread printer along a travel path. The system also includes a printhead positioned to apply coatings of a plurality of colors to the weft thread and yield a treated weft thread, as well as an outlet positioned to pass the treated weft thread to a loom.
