The apparatus and method distribute a CDM segment, to which an ACK/NACK signal is mapped, in the frequency domain of an OFDM symbol, and repeatedly transmits the CDM segment, thereby providing diversity gain in the time-frequency domain. Further, the apparatus and method provide a mapping rule for distributing transmit power between OFDM symbols to which the ACK/NACK signal is mapped and transmitted, thereby preventing a particular OFDM symbol power-overload, and thus contributing to improvement of the entire system performance.

The present invention distributes a CDM segment, to which an ACK/NACK signal is mapped, in the frequency domain of an OFDM symbol, and repeatedly transmits the CDM segment, thereby providing diversity gain in the time-frequency domain. Further, the present invention provides a mapping rule for distributing transmit power between OFDM symbols to which the ACK/NACK signal is mapped and transmitted, thereby preventing the case where a particular OFDM symbol is power-overloaded, and thus contributing to improvement of the entire system performance.

The uplink MIMO DCI format includes a modulation and coding scheme (MSC) field having an MCS value for each of two transport blocks. The transmit path circuitry transmits the uplink grant to a subscriber station. For a given transport block, a combination of the MCS value corresponding to the transport block and a number positive integer of physical resource blocks allocated to the subscriber station (N_PRB) indicates whether the transport block is disabled.
