摘要: A partial response is utilized to record information on a medium and then regenerate the information from the medium. A regenerating system undergoes equalization including subjecting a regeneration signal from the medium to the convolution of (k−s·D) (where D is one (1) bit delay operator, and k and s are positive integer). Such convolution is performed in the regenerating system so that low-frequency band noises are reduced with an improved error rate. The information is decoded from the equalized signal by use of maximum-likelihood detection.

摘要: An information storage apparatus for carrying out a signal processing for a partial response system through a recording medium. A recording unit converts an RZ input code into an NRZI code and records the NRZI code in the recording medium through a write head, thereby giving a (1−D) waveform processing to the RZ input code. An equalizing unit carries out Nyquist equalization for a reproduction code reproduced from the recording medium through a read head based on an equalizing transmission characteristic obtained by dividing a cosine roll-off characteristic setting ¼ of a maximum frequency determined by the RZ input code to be a Nyquist frequency by a transmission characteristic of a magnetic recording and reproducing system. A maximum likelihood detecting section carries out maximum likelihood detection for the code string which is Nyquist equalized by the equalizing section.

摘要: A digital optical transmitter includes a main/subdata modulation part for distorting a main data modulated signal waveform in response to sub-data, and an E/O conversion part for converting a subsequently obtained electrical modulated signal to an optical modulated signal and outputting the optical modulated signal. A digital optical receiver includes an O/E conversion part for receiving the optical modulated signal, converting it to an electrical modulated signal, and outputting the electrical modulated signal. Additionally, the digital optical receiver further includes a main/subdata demodulation part for demodulating the main data from the electrical modulated signal, while detecting whether or not a distortion signal responsive to the subdata is superposed on a subcarrier which forms the electrical modulated signal. If the distortion signal is superposed on a subcarrier, the main/subdata demodulator part demodulates the associated subdata.

摘要: A portable heat transfer apparatus including a combustion device, a thermoelectric convertor for receiving the heat of the combustion device at its high temperature side, transferring the heat from its low temperature side to a heat exchanger, and generating electric power depending on the temperature difference between the high temperature side and low temperature side. A heat medium forced circulating device is driven by the power generated from the thermoelectric converter for transferring heat medium to the heat exchanger. Also provided is a heat releasing device for circulating and releasing the heat medium exchanged of heat in the heat exchanger. Therefore, the heat exchanger can be heated through the thermoelectric converter while heating the thermoelectric converter with the combustion device, and by heating with the heat exchanger. The temperature difference between the high temperature side and low temperature side of the thermoelectric converter can be obtained rationally and sufficiently. Therefore, the apparatus is reduced in size and weight, and it is convenient for portable use.

摘要: According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording apparatus includes a current modulator and a recording head. The current modulator modulates current according to codes with run-length limitation in which a run-length is limited to a predetermined number. The recording head moves relative to the surface of a magnetic recording medium where the information is recorded based on directions of magnetizations and forms the magnetizations by the modulated current. The recording head includes a coil and a magnetic core. The coil generates a magnetic field corresponding to the modulated current. The magnetic core extends inside the coil with an end facing the magnetic recording medium. The magnetic core forms the magnetizations by guiding and applying the magnetic field from the end to the magnetic recording medium. The length of the end in the direction in which the magnetizations are aligned is not less than a length of the predetermined number.
