Abstract:
A method of transmitting acknowledgement/nonacknowledgement (ACK/NACK) signals including multiplexing ACK/NACK signals; and repeatedly transmitting for predetermined times the multiplexed signal with each of repetitions of transmitting the multiplexed signal being spread in a frequency domain and being mapped to a plurality of discrete resource units each having a pair of neighboring subcarriers and a predetermined number of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) control symbols.A method for transmitting Category 0 bits, including modulating the Category 0 bits; repeatedly transmitting the modulated Category 0 bits with each of repetitions of transmitting the modulated Category 0 bits being spread in a frequency domain and being mapped to a plurality of discrete resource units each having a pair of subcarriers and a predetermined number of OFDM control symbols; and mapping the modulated Category 0 bits by a frequency selective transmit diversity (FSTD).
Abstract:
A base station comprises a transmitter configured to transmit a downlink frame. The downlink frame comprising a first configuration message associated with the configuration of Enhanced-Multicast Broadcast Service (E-MBS). The first configuration message comprises a field with an indicator to indicate a next configuration message to be decoded by a subscriber station. The subscriber station, upon decoding the first configuration message, refrains from decoding subsequent configuration messages that precede the next configuration message to be decoded by the subscriber station in accordance with the indicator.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for data transmission in a communication system. The method including, determining, at the transmitter, whether to transmit data signal using a single codeword or two codewords, when it is determined that the single codeword transmission is used, coding, by the transmitter, a control signal by using a first signal format, with the control signal coded by the first signal format carrying information regarding the single codeword, when it is determined that the two codewords transmission is used, coding, by the transmitter, the control signal by using a second signal format, with the control signal coded by the second signal format carrying information regarding both of the two codewords, transmitting the data signal and the control signal according to the determined transmission format from the transmitter to the receiver.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns methods for efficiently supporting Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) on the Forward Packet Data Channel (F-PDCH) in CDMA 2000 1xEV-DV systems. Active speech in VoIP is encoded using, for example enhanced variable rate codec (EVRC), which produces 171, 80 and 16 bits per 20 ms of speech for Rate 1, Rate ½ and Rate ⅛, respectively. However, about 60% of the time a user is inactive during a speech session, so an inordinate amount of system bandwidth is comprised of rate ⅛ VoIP packets. In one embodiment of the present invention the apparatus of the present invention identifies the Rate ⅛ voice frame packets and discards them. In another embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus of the present invention identifies the Rate ⅛ voice frame packets and selects some of them for further transmission. In both embodiments the efficiency of channel utilization is increased since the amount of channel band width used to communicate relatively little information, e.g., gaps of silence, is decreased.
Abstract:
For use in a multicast wireless communication network comprising a plurality of base stations, various methods for encoding retransmissions to a plurality of mobile stations are provided. Each method includes transmitting a plurality of data packets to the plurality of mobile stations. Each method also includes creating at least one redundancy packet by using at least two of the plurality of data packets and binary XOR addition. Each method further includes transmitting at least one redundancy packet to the plurality of mobile stations.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for allocating code resources to ACK/NACK channel indexes, when UEs need ACK/NACK transmission in a wireless communication system in which a predetermined number of orthogonal cover Walsh codes is selected from among available orthogonal cover Walsh codes, at least one subset is formed, having the selected orthogonal cover Walsh codes arranged in an ascending order of cross interference, subsets are selected for use in first and second slots of a subframe, and the orthogonal cover Walsh codes of the subset selected for each slot and ZC sequence cyclic shift values are allocated to the ACK/NACK channel indexes.
Abstract:
An approach is provided for channel interleaving. A plurality of symbols are received and partitioned into a plurality of subblocks. The subblocks form a plurality of subsequences. A first output sequence is generated from the subsequences. The subsequences of the first output sequence is selected and punctured to generate a second output sequence, and interleaving the second output sequence.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for estimating and reducing interference in wireless communication systems are disclosed. As one example, a method for reducing interference in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method includes the steps of generating a tile for transmission, the tile including a first portion and a second portion, inserting small message information into the first portion or the second portion, if the small message information is inserted into the first portion, inserting data into the second portion, and if the small message information is inserted into the second portion, inserting the data into the first portion.
