Abstract: A tool for cutting a hose to length and for inserting a fitting into the end of a hose is provided. The tool includes a base which mounts a slide member for reciprocal movement therealong. The slide mounts a knife and a fitting member die, and is actuated by a handle connected by a linkage thereto. The base includes a notch to support a hose for cutting by the blade, and a support and bar engaging cam to retain the hose is positioned to have a fitting inserted therein.

Abstract: An ultrasound-responsive nanoscale delivery platform for use in treating biofilm-associated diseases is provided. The inventors have found that the use of a phase-shift nanodroplet/antimicrobial complex platform confers a number of advantages when used in methods for antibiofilm therapy. Specifically, the inclusion of antimicrobials within the supramolecular structure of the ultrasound-responsive nanoscale delivery platform allowed for increased passive cellular and subcellular uptake, stimuli-responsive spatiotemporally controlled drug release, and significantly higher bacterial toxicity in both planktonic cultures and mature biofilms. This platform remains stable in storage at room temperature, in blood components, and does not significantly prematurely release its loaded cargo. The platform may be used as a novel treatment option in biofilm-associated diseases such as, but not limited to, bone and joint infections, cystic fibrosis-associated pleural infections, chronic wounds, and chronic urinary tract infections.

Abstract: An adjustable insertion-depth tube flaring tool is provided. A selector housing is disposed on a yoke. An adjustment nut is disposed within the selector housing. An adjustment screw is disposed within at least one of the selector housing and the yoke. A clutch housing has therein at least one biasing element, at least one lower clutch plate, and at least one upper clutch plate. An upper clutch plate rotation supporting element interacts with a lower clutch plate rotation supporting element to facilitate rotation of the upper clutch plate over the lower clutch plate in one direction. At least a portion of a shaft proximal end and an upper clutch plate inner wall are shaped to interact with one another in such a manner that the upper clutch plate is selectively prevented from rotating about the shaft proximal end when the upper clutch plate is disposed on the shaft proximal end.

Abstract: A stripper tool is provided for cutting an outer sheath of an electrical cable. Inside the sheath is parallel spaced apart insulation covered wires and a core member containing an uncovered ground wire between the insulation covered wires. The sheath has spaced apart curved sides conforming to the covered wires. The tool has spaced apart first and second jaw members adapted to be pressed together. The jaw members have cutting edges that receive a portion of the cable along its length. The cutting edges define an opening configured to cut the sheath and the core without significantly cutting the insulation on the wires or the unsheathed ground wire when the jaw members are pressed together to form the opening. The portion of the sheath is then removed in one continuous process.

Abstract: A tube bender comprising a mandrel, a forming member connected to the mandrel for coaction with the mandrel to effectuate bending of a tube wherein the forming member has at least two bending positions defined thereon, a handle pivotally connected to said forming member, and a release member movable relative to said handle and configured to be secured in a locked position relative to said forming member when said handle is selectively moved to any of one said at least two bending positions thereby preventing relative movement between said handle and said forming member.
