摘要: An improved tungsten insert gas welder, having a means to remove heat energy using pressurized air, and a method for removing the heat away from the welder head area. A source of pressurized air is delivered though a hose to the welder head, and is directed through heat conductive air tubes within the welder head, is forced through a plurality of coils which surround an area that contains heat energy created during the welding process. As the air moves through the coils, it acquires some of the heat energy within the welder head. The heated air is vented into an outer jacket, which contains the electrically conductive cables, and an airspace surrounding the cables. As the heated air moves toward a rear connector block, it contacts the length of the cables, and is able to transfer some of the heat to the cables. This allows some of the heat energy contained within the pressurized air to be transferred through physical contact to the metal cable, so that as the air moves farther along the length of the metal cable, it will lose more of its heat energy, so that it begins to cool, which will cause the heat acquired by the metal cable to move along the length of the cable in the direction of the cooler air toward the rear connector block, thus maximizing the cooling potential of this forced air system.

摘要: In a device for welding thin metal sheets passing thereunder and, more particularly, a stationary, water-cooled welding device for welding the lengthwise edges of a metal band formed into a tube, under protective gas, with the aid of one or more non-fusing electrodes (10) located in the welding head, each electrode (10) is held by an electrode clamp (5) in a burner housing (1). The electrode clamp (5) is held in the burner housing by a clamp holder (3). A tube-shaped clamping rod (7) is located in a central passage of the clamp holder (3). The electrode (10) is held by a slotted end of the tube-shaped clamping rod (7). This enables the electrode (10) to be pulled upwards out of the clamp holder (3), together with the clamping rod (7).

摘要: A clamping sleeve for an electrode of a burner, especially a TIG burner, has its bore receiving the electrode offset from the axis of the housing receiving the sleeve so that, upon clamping of the electrode, the electrode is not only pressed against the wall of the bore over a greater part of its length, but is also pressed to the wall of a bore in the housing through which the electrode extends to increase the area over which electric current is delivered to and heat is abstracted from the electrode.

摘要: The penetration in an arc welding process is measured in real time by monitoring the natural frequency of oscillation of the weld pool. Spatial oscillations are induced in the weld pool by modulating either the shielding gas or the welding current at a plurality of different frequencies, and the light reflected from the pool at a non-specular angle is sensed and processed to determine the natural frequency of oscillation. Both pulse and swept frequency modulations are employed for excitation of the weld pool.
