Abstract:
A moped has a frame with a steering socket connected to a front end. The front end has a front wheel. The front end steers the moped. An engine is mounted to the frame. The engine drives an engine transmission having an engine sprocket axle. The engine sprocket axle drives the engine sprocket. The engine sprocket drives the engine sprocket chain. A foot pedal is mounted on a foot pedal crank arm. The foot pedal crank arm is mounted to a foot pedal axle. The foot pedal axle is mounted to a foot pedal sprocket so that the foot pedal crank arm, the foot pedal axle and the foot pedal sprocket rotate together to drive a pedal chain. The engine is mounted at a height above the foot pedal sprocket. The engine sprocket axle drives the engine sprocket. The engine sprocket drives the engine sprocket chain.

Disclosed herein are a bicycle and a control method of the same. The bicycle includes an electromagnet installed in a pedal body rotatably coupled to a pedal shaft and configured to generate a magnetic force when power is supplied thereto, a switching unit configured to switch on or off the power supplied to the electromagnet, and an electronic control unit configured to turn on or off the switching unit.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for detecting bicycle pedaling frequencies, in which an accelerometer of the body is used to detect the acceleration value of the pedal during pedaling, and the processing unit determines the periodical variations on acceleration increases and decreases, records the acceleration waveform, calculates the number of cycling in the pedal per minute based on the times that the sampled values within a unit time cross over the central line of the acceleration value, and also transfers tempo data to an electronic device by way of a wireless communication circuit and displays the pedaling frequency of the pedal via a screen so as to allow a user to promptly appreciate relevant information during riding and facilitate appropriate adjustments and controls on pedaling tempo and force.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a device (1) for bicycles or other pedal-powered vehicles, fitted with at least one crank (3) that has a pedal at one end (2) and a box on the other (4), with said box (4) being fitted with a flute and contiguous to a fixed structure fitted with a pin, characterized in that the movement of the crank is limited by the pin's movement in said flute, in that the box (4) nests a torsion spring within it, in that the device is fitted with a braking mechanism of the crankshaft's (24) sprockets, in that these sprockets (24) engage in the sprockets of the transmission box, connecting this box to the toothed shaft's box (63) and in that the sprockets of the transmission box, in turn, transmit their movement to the outer shaft.
Abstract:
An orthotic pedal apparatus for a bicycle has a pedal post having a central first axis and a male threaded portion for engaging female threads in a crank arm of a bicycle crank assembly, a pedal body having a linear bore arrangement with bearings mounting the body rotationally on the pedal post, and a mechanism for adjusting and securing position of the body at different positions along the direction of the axis of the pedal post, and a foot platform mounted rotationally above the pedal body to rotate on a second axis at a right angle to the axis of the pedal post, the foot platform supported on spring elements between the pedal body and the foot platform on both sides of the second rotational axis, the spring elements tending to return the foot platform to a position parallel to the pedal body.
Abstract:
A cycle with tapered drivetrain connections. The cycle includes a frame, a crank rotatably connected to the frame, and a driven wheel rotatably connected to the frame. The crank includes a crank arm and a crank spindle rotatably connected to the frame and non-rotatably connected to the crank arm. The crank spindle includes a crank mating surface to interface with the crank arm. The diameter of the crank spindle continuously decreases along at least a portion of the crank mating surface in a lateral direction. The crank arm includes a crank bore to interface with the crank mating surface. At least a portion of the crank bore has a diameter that continuously decreases in lateral direction. At least a portion of the crank bore taper has a taper rate and diameter equal to a taper rate and diameter of at least a portion of the crank spindle taper.
Abstract:
A locking bicycle pedal includes a ratcheting coiled cable with a male locking plug that mates with a female locking port. A lock, such as a resettable combination lock, secures and releases a catch that secures and releases the plug in the port. When locked in the port, the plug depresses a plunger which constrains a pawl that engages teeth of a toothed wheel of the spool. An optional tracker wirelessly emits GPS location data if a theft is detected.
Abstract:
A universal platform adapter for use with a clipless pedal on a bicycle includes a body portion having upper and lower surfaces, wherein the upper surface is adapted to be engaged by a generally flat bottom surface of a shoe. A first plurality of attachment apertures is provided in a first arrangement on the lower surface of the body portion and is adapted to cooperate with a first cleat that is adapted for use with a clipless pedal on a bicycle. A second plurality of attachment apertures is provided in a second arrangement on the lower surface of the body portion and is adapted to cooperate with a second cleat that is adapted for use with a clipless pedal on a bicycle. The second arrangement defined by the second plurality of attachment apertures is different from the first arrangement defined by the first plurality of attachment apertures.
Abstract:
The present application is directed towards methods and systems for an add-on smart pedal and computer based application to provide cyclist monitoring and recommendations. The methods include displaying, by a virtual coach, characteristics of a bike in a first virtual cycling session, the characteristics measured by a pedal sensor during a cycling session. The virtual coach may assess a performance of a rider during the cycling session and generate recommendations the first virtual cycling session based on the performance of the rider. Further, the virtual coach may create a second virtual cycling session based on the rider performance and the recommendations.
