Abstract:
Process for the perfluoropolyether preparation having reactive end groups —CH2NH2, —CHO, —CH2OH, by reduction of the corresponding perfluoropolyethers having —CN, —COCl, —CHO end groups by using gaseous hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst constituted by Pd, Rh, or Ru, supported on solid metal fluorides, at a temperature from 20° C. to 150° C. and under a pressure between 1 and 50 atm.
Abstract:
A compound comprising a blend of polypropylene with the reaction of a functionalized polypropylene and polyether amine in which the polyetheramine is grafted into the functionalized polypropylene in a customary mixing apparatus is disclosed. The blend may include an elastomer such as EP rubber and/or a filler such as glass. A process for producing the reaction product of the functionalized polypropylene and the polyether amine by melting with polypropylene in a customary mixing apparatus is also disclosed. Blends of the present invention are advantageously useful to prepare paintable automotive body parts.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a novel composition of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R=H, methyl, ethyl, or a mixture thereof and R.sup.5 =a saturated or unsaturated alkyl group from a fatty acid containing 7 to 22 carbon atoms and a+b=n, wherein n is from about 2 to 80, resulting from alkoxylating an substituted imidazolidone, reductively aminating the alkoxylated product and reacting the aminated product with a fatty acid; and, to its use as a surfactant in glycol-water mixtures, such as, for example, propylene glycol based wing deicers thickened with polyacrylic acids.
Abstract:
Polyamines endowed with chain extension activity for formulations such as polyureas and polyurethanes are disclosed, which have the general formula: ##STR1## wherein n is 0-1000; R.sub.1 =R.sub.2, and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are from the group --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --; --CH.sub.2 --C(CH.sub.3)H--; and --C(CH.sub.3)H--CH.sub.2 --; and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of H, --CH.sub.3, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.3, --CH.sub.2 OH, and --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --OH.
Abstract:
The invention is an epoxy resin adhesive composition. The composition comprises:A. An epoxy resin component; andB. A curative component comprising:a curing amount of a polyamine curing agent and 2 to 30 phr. of an adhesion enhancer of comprising a partially hindered polyetherpolyamine. The fast curing adhesive offers high lap shear strength and relatively high peel strength.

Aminomono- or di-[(poly-n-butoxy)-n-butylamino]-(poly-n-butoxy)-n-butylamines of the general formula IH.sub.2 N--[(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.x --(CH.sub.2).sub.4 --NH].sub.y --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.x --(CH.sub.2).sub.4 --NH.sub.2 (I)where x is from 1 to 150 and y is 1 or 2, are prepared by a process in which a hydroxy-(poly-n-butoxy)-butanol of the formula IIHO--(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.x --(CH.sub.2).sub.4 --OH (II)where x is from 1 to 150, is reacted with from 1.01 to 300 mole equivalents of ammonia per hydroxyl group in the presence of a hydrogenation/dehydrogenation catalyst and hydrogen at from 150.degree. to 300.degree. C. and under from 20 to 400 bar.
Abstract:
A series of polyoxyalkylene diamines modified with phenoxy groups is disclosed. This series of diamines is of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently hydrogen or an alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sub.3 is a alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Ph is phenyl, x ranges from 2 to 40, y ranges from 1 to 20 and z ranges from 1 to 40.These diamines are cured with liquid epoxy resins. The cured resins demonstrated improved tensile strength and modulus, elongation and flexural strength and modulus over a commercially used curative. The diamines are also useful in RIM elastomers, in polyamides and as chain extenders in polyurethane foams.
Abstract:
An improved method for the manufacture of high molecular weight polyoxyalkylene amines wherein a hydroxy-terminated polyoxyalkylene compound having a molecular weight of at least 500 is reacted with ammonia in the presence of hydrogen and Raney nickel/aluminum under anhydrous reductive amination conditions to provide the corresponding polyoxyalkylene amine in good yield and selectivity. The Raney nickel/aluminum is a nickel/aluminum alloy treated with a base, such as sodium hydroxide, so as to only partially leach the aluminum from the alloy, such that the final product contains from about 60 wt. % to about 75 wt. % of nickel and, correspondingly, from about 25 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of aluminum and is preferably used in nugget form.
