摘要: An energy accumulator and rectifier equipment for converting and generating renewable energy from ocean waves and winds, which includes a storage tank or compressed air accumulator, a series of vertical tubes filled with non-compressible fluid so that it can displace movable elements, forming a group, wherein each group is in connection with another similar group at both the upper level and the lower level by means of a fluid circulation pipes and by means of a pipe of smaller diameter, at the upper and lower portion, for air circulation, and wherein the fluid circulation pipes of every group are attached to a common pipe at the upper level which conveys the fluid toward a turbine-generator to produce electricity and a common pipe at the lower level to recirculate fluid toward the cylinders.

摘要: An upstanding bladed rotor is journalled from support structure and a windshield assembly is also journalled from the support structure for angular displacement about an upstanding axis about the rotor. The windshield assembly includes a wind-shielding portion which extends generally about one half the periphery of the rotor and further includes a wind vane operative to maintain the assembly in predetermined position relative to wind incident upon the rotor with the wind-shielding portion in position to shield generally one lateral half of the rotor from the incident wind. The windshield assembly additionally includes a combined wind booster and excess wind controlling vane supported therefrom and disposed outward of the other lateral half of the rotor into the sweep area thereof responsive to high velocity wind incident thereon so as to apply rotary torque to the windshield assembly partially overcoming the directional control thereon by the wind vane and swinging the wind-shielding portion into position across the side of the rotor upon which the wind is incident so as to reduce the amount of high velocity wind available to drive the rotor and thus prevent the latter from overspeeding.

摘要: A device to convert the kinetic energy of wind into kinetic energy in the form of a rotating mass (FIG. 9) and to then selectively harvest and convert the kinetic energy of the rotating mass into electrical energy using both permanent magnet and electromagnet generators (FIG. 33). The conversion of the kinetic energy of wind into mechanical kinetic energy of the rotating mass is maximized through mechanical means by varying the physical moment of inertia of the rotating mass programatically based upon real time sensor data (FIG. 27A,27B). The conversion of the kinetic energy of the rotating mass into electrical energy is maximized through the programatical control of the field coil current of the electromagnet generator based upon real time sensor data (FIG. 62).

摘要: A turbine assembly converts kinetic energy from a flowing fluid into electrical or mechanical energy. The turbine assembly includes a turbine and a vane assembly. The turbine has a plurality of vanes disposed on its circumference and rotates about a vertical axis responsive to the flowing fluid contacting the vanes. The vane assembly also rotates about the vertical axis, but does so independently of the turbine. The vane assembly rotates to direct the flowing fluid into contact with the vanes.

摘要: Various fluid turbine systems and methods are described. The turbine can be a vertical axis wind turbine configured to generate power from wind energy. The turbine system can have a blade assembly. The blade assembly can have a plurality of blades rotatable about an axis. The turbine system can have a concentrator positionable upwind and in front of a return side of the blade assembly. The concentrator can define a convex surface facing the wind. The turbine system can also have a variable concentrator positionable upwind of a push side of the blade assembly. The variable concentrator can be adjustable between a first position and a second position, the variable concentrator being capable of deflecting more wind toward the turbine in the first position than in the second position.

摘要: Systems and methods for capturing the energy of wind currents by placing wind-driven turbines at one or more edges of a building's roof, where the wind currents are concentrated by deflection of the wind off the horizontal faces of the building. In one embodiment, a cylindrical wind turbine is placed at the edge of a building's rooftop. The turbine structure drives an electrical generator. The axis of rotation of the turbine is parallel to the ground and to the edge of the building. A concentrator may be used to direct rising winds into the turbine. Turbines can be installed on multiple sides of the building to optimize the system for variations in wind direction with changes in seasons or weather conditions.
