Abstract: Methods, system and devices 10 for capturing wave energy are disclosed. A submersible wave energy capture device 10 comprises a tube 12 and a plurality of one-way valves 21, 31, 41. The tube 12 has a seawater inlet 11 at an upstream end 10u of the tube 12. The downstream end 10d of the tube 12 is communicable with an energy utilisation means 2 powered by seawater flow from the tube 12. The one-way valves 21, 31, 41 divide the tube 12 into a series of chambers 20, 30, 40. The chambers comprises elastic walls 22, 32, 42. These are deformable so as to alter an effective internal volume of each respective chamber 20, 30, 40. The valves 21, 31, 41, open to permit water flow within the tube 12 in a downstream direction, and close to resist water flow within the tube 12 in an upstream direction.

Abstract: This disclosure provides improved nautical craft that can travel and navigate on their own. A hybrid vessel is described that converts wave motion to locomotive thrust by mechanical means, and also converts wave motion to electrical power for storage in a battery. The electrical power can then be tapped to provide locomotive power during periods where wave motion is inadequate and during deployment. The electrical power can also be tapped to even out the undulating thrust that is created when locomotion of the vessel is powered by wave motion alone.

Abstract: An ocean wave energy absorbing kite system 200 captures an ocean wave's kinetic energy as a force on a submerged, reciprocating panel 202 that drives the panel back and forth in an oscillating motion. The force applied to the panel is transmitted to a power generator 244 through opposed flexible ropes or lines 214, 224 loaded in tension. Potential energy is captured from the wave as a vertical force when a buoyant volume attached to the energy absorbing panel or kite member 202 rises on a passing ocean wave's peak, and transmits the force through flexible ropes or lines in tension to a power generator. Optionally, the shape of the panel is configurable to limit or restrict absorbed wave energy, thereby preventing damage from larger storm-generated waves.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards an apparatus for power generation from the surface ocean waves in deep seas and methods thereof. Wave energy moves a float, vertically up and down, within the confines of four vertical pillars that are fixed to a buoyant tank. This buoyant tank is placed deep below the ocean surface and the upper surface of the float connects to a rack and pinion system which is coupled to a gearbox. Within the gearbox are freewheels and gears, that drive a generator shaft, in one direction only, as the float oscillates up and down on the ocean waves. For generating large amounts of power, a number of units are placed in a row. Many rows are placed side by side and the mechanical energy of all the rows is transferred to a long horizontal shaft which drives a generator through a gear box.

Abstract: A wave energy converter has blades (54, 56, 57, 59) on frames (51, 52) rotating about a pivot joint (53) on a structure (4, 52, 502, 505, 86). There is reciprocating rotary motion of the frame with respect to the structure, providing reciprocating rotary input power to a mechanism (73, 94, 98). The mechanism (98) may be arranged so that the reciprocating input power is transferred to uni-directional power via pulleys (101, 106) and sprag clutches (102, 107).
