Abstract:
A system for detecting leaks comprises at least one pipeline element, a leak detection device, and a pre-formed, heat-shrinkable sleeve comprising at least one inlet aperture. A method of manufacturing the sleeve comprises the steps of applying a cross-linkable material around a standard-sized sleeve mold, cross-linking the material, removing the cross-linked material from the mold, heating and stretching the cross-linked material around a stretching sleeve mold, allowing the material to cool, and removing the cooled sleeve from the mold. A method of monitoring a leak comprises the steps of receiving the pipeline element in the sleeve and applying heat to the sleeve, whereby the sleeve shrinks and conforms substantially around the profile of the pipeline element and at least a portion of the leak detection device.
Abstract:
A device for detecting fuel leaks in a vehicle is provided. The device includes a body configured to be mounted in sealing engagement around a portion of a fuel line in the vehicle; and a collection chamber configured to collect fuel that leaks from the fuel line within the body. The body is configured to direct the fuel leaked from the fuel line to the collection chamber. At least a portion of the body or collection chamber is transparent to enable presence of the fuel leaked from the fuel line to be visually verified. The collection chamber is operatively connected to a drain connector.
Abstract:
A hose includes an outermost layer and an inner layer disposed within the outermost layer. The outermost layer has a first color. The inner layer defines a passageway that extends longitudinally through the inner layer. A reinforcement layer is disposed between the inner layer and the outermost layer. A hose cover is disposed between the reinforcement layer and the outermost layer. The hose cover has a second color. An overlay layer is disposed between the outermost layer and the hose cover. The overlay layer has a third color that is different than the first color of the outmost layer and the second color of the hose cover.
Abstract:
A seal for use with a first coupling element and a second coupling element has an annular configuration. The seal has an inner wall and an outer wall. The seal has a first portion, a central portion and a second portion. The central portion extends outwardly of the first portion and the second portion. A channel is formed in the central portion so as to have one end opening to the outer wall at the first portion and an opposite end opening to the outer wall at the second portion. The seal is formed of a metallic material. The outer wall at the central portion has a generally V-shaped configuration.
Abstract:
Apparatus, including a pipeline, featuring at least one pipe liner or coating configured to line or coat a pipe for receiving a process fluid flow, configured with at least one chemical taggant or tracer, and also configured to respond to the process fluid flow, and provide an indication about a degree of liner or coating wear or a location of wear in the pipe. The apparatus may also include the pipe having the at least one pipe liner or coating configured therein.
Abstract:
A pipe for a conveying line for conveying bulk material has an inner pipe and an exterior pipe surrounding at a spacing the inner pipe, wherein an annular space is formed between the inner pipe and the exterior pipe. A spacer is seated on the inner pipe and arranged in the annular space between the inner pipe and the exterior pipe. The spacer centers the inner pipe and the exterior pipe relative to each other. The spacer supports the exterior pipe by an at least 2-point support.
Abstract:
A conduit having an interior surface and an exterior surface and having a length (x) and an interior circumference (y) is provided, comprising: an interior liner for lining the interior surface of the conduit; and at least two independent continuity wires embedded into the interior liner, each continuity wire extending substantially the length of the conduit and each continuity wire being capable of being monitored independently; whereby each continuity wire is configured to span a portion of the conduit's interior circumference without overlapping with another continuity wire.
Abstract:
A particulate-accommodating fluid flow directing apparatus comprises a failure detection housing containing a flow directing insert, the housing serving as a pressure boundary; failure at any location along the insert being detectable by means associated with the housing. The insert can be manufactured of erosion resistant materials, including non-ductile materials such as ceramics. The insert is sealed to the housing at an inlet and a discharge forming a pressure chamber between the insert and housing. The pressure chamber can be maintained at a pad pressure complementary to the process pressure, the pad pressure being maintained and monitored for indication of insert failure.
Abstract:
An apparatus for extending a pipe through a wall. The apparatus includes a ball joint through which at least one pipe extends, an inner pipe, which extends through the ball joint and through which a fluid material may transfer, a housing unit, which substantially surrounds the ball joint and comprises resin bonding surfaces that that seal the housing unit to the ball joint, and a flange unit, which affixes to the housing unit and comprises resin bonding surfaces that seal the flange unit to a wall. The angle between the longitudinal axis of the inner pipe and a line orthogonal to the wall through which the pipe extends is in the range of between about 0 and 20 degrees.
Abstract:
A sleeve member, end fitting assembly, and a method of assembly of a flexible pipe are disclosed. The sleeve member includes a body comprising a substantially cylindrical portion having an inner diameter substantially equal to an outside diameter of a first pipe body layer for overlying the first pipe body layer; and a flange portion extending radially outwards from the body for locating between a further pipe body layer and an end fitting, the further pipe body layer being an armour layer, the flange portion having an outer diameter substantially equal to or greater than the outer diameter of the further pipe body layer.
