In accordance with various embodiments, there is an ink composition including a carrier medium and one or more photochromic species in the carrier medium, wherein each of the one or more photochromic species can be selected from the group consisting of monomeric photochromic molecules, photochromic oligomers, and photochromic polymers, and wherein each one of the one or more photochromic species exhibits a reversible transition from a colorless state to a colored state upon exposure to a radiant condition wherein the radiant condition can be selected from the group consisting of a radiant energy and a combination of a radiant energy and thermal energy.

    摘要: The present invention is a programmable and latching retro-reflective construct suitable for use as an optical label in an optical labeling system. The invention contains retro-reflective structures such as lens beads, corner cubes or other retro-reflecting type structures. The retro-reflective construct further comprises a wavelength selective, programmable and latching reflecting structure located at the reflecting surfaces of the retro-reflective structures. The optical construct can optionally contain additional optical filtering structures. Methods for fabricating the invention are also described.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method for making a substrate coated with a mesoporous photochromic film, comprising: a) preparing a precursor sol of a mesoporous film comprising an inorganic precursor agent, at least one organic solvent, water, at least one pore-forming agent and one hydrophobic precursor agent bearing at least one hydrophobic group; b) depositing a film of the precursor sol onto a main surface of a substrate; c) removing the pore-forming agent from the film resulting from the previous step at a temperature ≦150° C.; d) impregnating the mesoporous film resulting from step c) with a solution comprising at least one photochromic agent. In an alternative embodiment, the photochromic agent is directly introduced into the precursor sol. In an alternative embodiment of the previous alternative embodiment, the precursor sol does not comprise any hydrophobic precursor agent but the photochromic film is made hydrophobic by a treatment subsequent to its preparation.
