    摘要: A system and apparatus for the underground distribution of utilities, notably electric power, includes a meter box with a housing having a portion of dome-like configuration with an open bottom, a mounting ring over which the housing portion closely fits for stability, and an upstanding meter-receiving panel rigidly carried by the mounting ring. A pullbox section may be provided as part of the meter box, as also may a lamp post portion rising upwardly from the dome-like portion and adapted to carry a luminaire for outdoor lighting. The panel is provided with bus bar mountings for electrical and meter plug-in connections. The housing is preferably hingedly attached to the mounting ring for free-swinging covering and uncovering movement relative to the meter-mounting panel.

    摘要: The meter box has an inside wall defining a cavity and having upper and lower ends, with upper and lower openings respectively leading to the cavity whereby the cavity may receive a meter by way of the lower opening. An outside wall having upper and lower ends is spaced from and surrounds the inside wall. A receptacle wall is coupled between the upper ends of the inside and outside walls for receiving and supporting a cover. A flange is coupled to and surrounds the outside wall between the upper and lower ends of the outside wall. The flange has an upper flange wall coupled to the outside wall and a lower flange wall spaced from the upper flange wall. The outside wall has alternate inner and outer wall sections spaced from each other and having upper and intermediate ends respectively. The lower flange wall is coupled to the intermediate ends of the outside wall sections of the outside wall. The inner wall sections extend above the flange with their upper ends located below and next to the receptacle wall for providing support for the receptacle wall. Support wall sections are coupled to the lower flange wall and to the upper ends of the inner sections for providing support for the receptacle.

The cable terminals include a soft dielectric filler making a void-free interfacial engagement with the surface of a hard dielectric filler of a mating component. To provide for breaking a coupling under load, an arc-quenching follower is retractable into an axial cavity in the coupling components of the system and projectable therethrough upon breaking of the circuit and disconnecting of the components to provide an improved arc-quenching function. Thus, there is provided an underground system having security, operational safety and convenience.

    摘要: A rectangular tank has a rectangular cover secured thereto in fluid tight relation for mounting in a sub-surface vault likely to be flooded. Insulator through bushings are mounted on inclined end portions and one inclined side portion for supporting terminals extending into the space enclosed by the tank and cover. A switching assembly is enclosed by the tank and cover. It comprises stationary contacts connected to the end and side terminals. The contacts are engageable by commonly connected switch blades. Spring operators are connected to the switch blades and remotely operated on pivotal movement of horizontal shafts projecting from a conning tower which extends upwardly from the cover to one side thereof. Indicators on the projecting ends of the shafts show the open or closed position of the switch individual thereto.
